Cape Town Cafe
Cape Town Cafe brings a South African theme to Anjuna's nightlife strip, combining a well-stocked bar with live music programming and DJ nights that pull a more varied crowd than Baga's Bollywood-heavy clubs. The space is open-plan with a large bar, indoor and outdoor seating, and a stage area for live performances. The cocktail menu is better than average for North Goa. The food borrows from South African braai culture alongside Indian and global comfort food.
What to Expect
A bar and live music venue with more variety than Baga's mainstream clubs. The crowd is a genuine mix of international travelers, long-stay residents, and Indian visitors who want something beyond Bollywood. The atmosphere is social and relaxed.
Social, diverse, and musically interesting. The South African theme adds character without being gimmicky. Live music nights bring real energy. Regular nights are calm and social.
Live bands: rock, blues, jazz, and fusion on weekends. DJ sets: house, techno, and eclectic mixes midweek. More diverse than Baga's Bollywood-EDM standard.
Casual. No restrictions. Beachwear with a cover-up is fine.

Full Review
Cape Town Cafe operates from a premise that Goa's nightlife needs more than just Bollywood clubs and trance parties, and it's right. The venue sits on Anjuna's main road, set back from the beach but easy to find. The South African theme manifests in the decor (maps, surfing imagery, braai-influenced food) and the spirit (welcoming, no-attitude, sport-on-the-screens).
The bar is well-run. Cocktails are mixed properly, using fresh ingredients and a rotating menu that responds to what's available seasonally. A feni-based take on a mojito and a watermelon vodka smash are popular orders. Prices at 350 to 600 INR put drinks in the affordable range for quality cocktail bars.
Live music is the draw on weekends. The venue books bands from Goa's local circuit and occasionally touring acts from Mumbai, Bangalore, and abroad. Quality varies, but the good nights are genuinely good. A blues trio or a rock band on the outdoor stage, with the Goan night air and a cold beer, is one of North Goa's better experiences.
The food menu is worth attention. Biltong (South African dried meat) is made in-house and authentic. The braai platter for sharing works well for groups. Standard options like burgers and pizzas are competent.
Cape Town Cafe competes with Chronicle (similar quality, different theme) and the various Anjuna beach shacks (cheaper, rawer). It wins on music programming and cocktail quality. For visitors who want a good night out without choosing between commercial Bollywood and underground trance, this is the middle path.
