Kulturhaus
Kulturhaus is Bucharest's answer to the question of whether a small Eastern European capital can support a world-class electronic music club. The answer is yes. The venue on Strada Selari runs a Funktion-One sound system in a converted Old Town building, bringing in DJs from Romania's deep techno talent pool and the international circuit. The space is intimate, holding around 300 people at capacity, which means the sound hits differently than in larger rooms. When the room is full and the DJ is locked in, the experience rivals clubs twice its size in Berlin or Amsterdam. Programming focuses on techno, minimal, deep house, and the occasional experimental electronic set.
What to Expect
A focused, music-first experience. The crowd comes for the DJ, not the bottle service. Lighting is minimal and purposeful. Conversation happens outside on the smoking terrace; the dance floor is for dancing.
Dark, focused, and intense. The sound system does the heavy lifting and the crowd responds.
Techno, minimal, deep house, tech-house, experimental electronic
Dark, casual, comfortable. Nobody cares about labels. Wear something you can dance in for hours.
Electronic music enthusiasts who care about sound quality and want to hear good DJs in an intimate room.

Full Review
Kulturhaus occupies a single-room venue in an Old Town building on Strada Selari. The space has been stripped back and treated acoustically, with the Funktion-One system installed as the centerpiece. The DJ booth sits at one end, the bar at the other, and the dance floor fills the space between them. It's simple. It works.
The sound quality sets Kulturhaus apart from every other club in Old Town. The Funktion-One system delivers clean bass, clear mids, and the kind of spatial audio that makes you aware of exactly where each element of a track sits in the room. At moderate volume, you can still talk near the bar. At peak volume on the dance floor, the sound is physical.
Booking policy is curated rather than commercial. Romanian DJs like Raresh, Praslea, and Petre Inspirescu have all played here, alongside international names from the Ibiza and Berlin circuits. The quality floor is high. Even the resident DJs know their craft.
The bar is functional rather than elaborate. Beer, basic spirits, and a short cocktail menu cover the essentials. Service is quick enough that you don't lose your spot on the floor. The venue has a small smoking terrace that doubles as the social area, since conversation on the dance floor isn't really possible during peak sets.
The 300-person capacity means the room fills fast on good nights. Arriving after 1 AM on a headline Saturday can mean a line. Online tickets guarantee entry. The intimate size also means the energy in the room is intense when things click. There's no back corner to hide in. You're in it.
For electronic music quality per square meter, Kulturhaus may be the best club in Bucharest. Control is more versatile. Nuba is flashier. But for pure sound in a small room, this is the one.
