Gazi, Athens

Sodade2 is one of Gazi's long-running nightclubs, operating on the main Iera Odos strip since the district became Athens' primary nightlife zone. The club runs two rooms: a main floor with a large dance area and DJ booth, and a smaller side room that usually plays different music for variety. There's also an outdoor terrace that provides relief from the heat and a place to smoke and talk. The music policy leans toward Greek pop, mainstream dance, and commercial hits, which pulls a young local crowd that rarely appears before 1 AM. Cover charges on weekends run EUR 8 to 12, which typically includes a drink. Additional drinks cost EUR 7 to 10 for cocktails and EUR 5 to 6 for beer. During winter months, the club operates weekends only. Summer brings extended schedules with Thursday through Saturday nights. The dance floor gets properly packed after 2 AM, and the energy builds from there until closing around 5 AM. The crowd is predominantly Greek, in their early 20s to 30s, dressed up and ready to party. English is spoken at the bar and door but the overall vibe is distinctly local.

What to Expect

A dark, loud club space that stays nearly empty until well after midnight, then fills rapidly. The transition from quiet to packed happens fast, usually between 1:30 and 2 AM. Once the floor is full, the energy is high and the crowd is into it. Expect Greek-language sing-alongs to popular tracks.

Atmosphere

Loud, energetic, and unapologetically Greek. This is where locals go to dance to their own music.

Music

Greek pop, mainstream dance, commercial house, and Greek hip-hop

Dress Code

Dressed up. Greeks take clubbing attire seriously. Button-down shirts for men, heels and dresses common for women.

Best For

Experiencing authentic Greek nightclub culture. Good for travelers who want to see how locals party rather than sticking to tourist-friendly venues.

Payment

Cash and cards accepted. Cover charge usually cash at the door.

Price Range

Cover EUR 8-12 (includes one drink), cocktails EUR 7-10, beer EUR 5-6

≈ $9-13 cover, $8-11 cocktails, $5-7 beer

Hours

Fri-Sat midnight to 5 AM year-round. Thu-Sat in summer. Weekend-only in winter.

Insider Tip

Don't show up before 1 AM or you'll be drinking alone. The terrace is the best spot to meet people between dance floor sessions. If Greek pop isn't your thing, check what's playing in the second room.

Full Review

Sodade2 gives you the Greek clubbing experience without filters. The main room is built for volume, with a sound system that handles the bass-heavy Greek pop tracks and a lighting rig that does its job without being spectacular. The dance floor takes up most of the space, with a bar running along one wall and the DJ booth elevated at the far end.

The crowd makes this place. Young Athenians arrive after midnight in groups, already warmed up from pre-drinks elsewhere in Gazi. By 2 AM the dance floor is a wall of movement, and when a popular Greek track drops, the entire room sings along. If you don't speak Greek, you'll still feel the energy, but knowing the music adds another layer to the experience.

The second room offers an alternative if the main floor's Greek pop rotation isn't connecting. It usually runs something closer to international dance or R&B, drawing a slightly different segment of the crowd. The outdoor terrace is where most socializing between strangers happens.

Drink quality is functional rather than inspired. You're ordering vodka-soda or beer, not craft cocktails. The cover-includes-a-drink setup is standard for Greek clubs and keeps initial costs reasonable. Service at the bar can be slow during peak hours, so order doubles.

The Neighborhood

Sodade2 sits on Iera Odos, the main club street in Gazi. The strip is lined with similar venues, making it easy to bar-hop between clubs. The surrounding area has late-night souvlaki shops and kebab spots that fill up as clubs empty out around 4 to 5 AM.

Getting There

Kerameikos metro (Line 3) is about a 6-minute walk. Exit and head toward Iera Odos, which runs parallel to Pireos Street. Taxis from the center are cheap and quick at night. Late-night bus services also run along Pireos.
