Borracharia
Borracharia is a bar set in an old tire shop on Rua Conselheiro Pedro Luiz with a deliberately industrial aesthetic, rock-leaning playlists, and a young alternative crowd. The space preserves the original tire-shop architecture: high ceilings, exposed concrete walls, original signage on the facade, and converted industrial fixtures repurposed as decor. The bar runs across the main floor with a long counter along one wall, a small stage for live music nights, and standing-and-table-mixed seating. The crowd skews 25-40 with a heavy Salvador-alternative-scene contingent. Drinks pricing is moderate: beer R$10-15, caipirinhas R$18-28, no cover most nights, R$20-40 cover for headlining live shows on weekends.

Full Review
Borracharia occupies a converted tire-shop space on Rua Conselheiro Pedro Luiz inland from the Rio Vermelho seafront. The architecture preserves the original commercial-industrial character: high ceilings, exposed concrete walls, the original red-painted tire-shop signage still visible on the facade, and converted industrial fixtures (old tire racks, mechanical tools mounted as decor, an industrial sliding door at the entrance) repurposed throughout the interior.
The music programming runs rock-leaning with DJ nights through the week and occasional live bands on weekends. The DJ rotations cover classic rock, alternative rock, Brazilian rock, and indie; live shows feature local Salvador rock bands at R$20-40 cover. The sound system handles loud guitar music well; the room runs hot when capacity fills.
Compared to the Rio Vermelho boteco circuit and the seafront venues, Borracharia is more industrial, more alternative-scene, and runs a notably younger crowd. Compared to Ovelha Negra Barra (the Barra rock bar), Borracharia is more dance-bar-format and less live-band-focused. Within Rio Vermelho, Borracharia fills the alternative-scene niche that complements the broader MPB-and-samba-driven venues.
The crowd skews 25-40 with the Salvador alternative-music scene as the regular base. Many regulars have been visiting weekly for years; new visitors are welcomed without ceremony but the venue assumes a baseline familiarity with the rock-and-alternative aesthetic. Drinks pricing is moderate, the bar pours generously, and the kitchen is minimal (basic snacks and bar food).
