Julian's Bar

Julian's occupies a compact storefront in Centrinho da Lagoa with the entrance leading into a tight indoor bar and a small back terrace that opens onto a partial lagoon view. The interior runs to dark wood, exposed brick, and warm amber lighting. The bar itself dominates the front of the space, with a few high-top tables clustered against the windows and the terrace seating handling overflow and visitors specifically wanting the view. Total capacity sits around 60 patrons.

The cocktail program is the main reason to come. The list rotates seasonally with about 20-25 drinks split between signature originals, classics with regional twists, and a few non-alcoholic options. House cocktails use Brazilian ingredients (cachaça, pitanga, jabuticaba, maracujá) without overplaying the regional theme; the result reads as accessible rather than esoteric. Execution is solid: drinks come out at proper temperature, with proper dilution and reasonable garnishes. The bartenders know their preparations and explain choices willingly.

Live music appears periodically, typically Thursday and Sunday evenings with smaller acoustic acts. DJ sets occasionally happen on Friday and Saturday late nights. The programming isn't the draw the way it is at John Bull or Confraria; this is a cocktail bar with occasional music rather than a music venue with drinks. Volume stays at conversation-friendly levels through most of the evening.

The crowd builds across the night. Early happy hour (6-8 PM) pulls a quieter mix of locals and expats stopping by after work or for an early date. Later (9 PM onward), the summer Argentine and Paulista visitor demographics expand the crowd, particularly on weekends. Mid-week visits stay calmer year-round. Service is friendly and the staff know their drinks; the bar can get backed up during peak Friday and Saturday hours, but Pix and card payments both process smoothly.
