BomBar

Rio Vermelho, Salvador

BomBar is a multi-room live-music venue on Rua Borges dos Reis with Bahian food, cocktails, and an active stage program covering MPB, samba, and pop. The space splits between a quieter restaurant room with dinner service, a middle bar with a small stage, and a back dance-floor room that activates later in the evening. The dual-mode programming runs dinner-and-drinks early and shifts to dance-bar mode after midnight. The kitchen produces Bahian standards alongside international comfort food at moderate pricing. The bar runs cocktails, caipirinhas, and a serious wine list. Pricing reflects the venue's positioning: beer R$12-18, cocktails R$25-40, mains R$50-95, cover R$20-40 on weekend music nights.

Full Review

BomBar sits on Rua Borges dos Reis in central Rio Vermelho, occupying a multi-room building with the dinner restaurant on the ground-floor front, a middle bar with the small stage, and the back dance-floor room beyond. The interior runs warm: timber accents, framed Brazilian musician portraits, polished bar counters, and lighting that shifts from dinner-warm to club-dark across the rooms.

The multi-room programming is the venue's distinguishing feature. The restaurant front runs dinner service from 7 PM with Bahian standards (moqueca, bobó) and international comfort food (pasta, burgers, grilled plates) at moderate pricing. The middle bar with the small stage runs live music from 9 PM with rotating local musicians playing MPB, samba, and Brazilian pop. The back dance-floor room activates around 11 PM with DJ programming for the late-night transition.

Compared to the Rio Vermelho boteco circuit, BomBar is significantly more polished and programmed. Compared to Vila Caramuru, BomBar is more music-and-dance-focused and less food-court-varied. Compared to Cien Fuegos a few minutes away, BomBar is more dinner-friendly and runs less Latin-specific dance programming.

The wine list is one of the strongest in Rio Vermelho with both Brazilian and imported options at moderate markups. The cocktail program is decent with serious caipirinha builds and a few craft signatures. The kitchen turns plates efficiently during the dinner peak. Service is friendly and the staff manages the multi-room layout smoothly across the evening's progression.
