Scott's Pub
Scott's Pub has been the unofficial starting line for Clausen nights since it opened in the early 2000s. The British-style pub sits on Rue de la Tour Jacob, the valley's main road, with a ground-floor bar area and an upper level that opens for overflow on busy nights. The interior follows the classic pub template: dark wood, draft taps along the bar, sports on screens above the bottles, and seating that ranges from bar stools to cushioned booths. What sets Scott's apart from a random English pub is its clientele. Luxembourg City's international workforce, from banking analysts to EU functionaries, uses Scott's as neutral ground. English, French, German, and Portuguese all compete for airspace on a Thursday evening. The pub shows Premier League, Champions League, and Six Nations rugby, which keeps it full during major sporting events. Draft options include local Mousel and Bofferding alongside international brands.
What to Expect
A warm, wood-paneled pub full of professionals switching between languages over pints. The noise level is high on Thursday and Friday evenings, with groups competing for bartender attention and sports commentary providing background noise.
Convivial and professional. A pub where bankers and civil servants relax the same way.
No dedicated music. Sports commentary and background playlist of classic rock and pop
After-work attire. Most people come directly from the office. Suits and smart casual dominate early; it loosens as the night goes on.
After-work drinks, watching sports, meeting people in an international setting
Cash and cards accepted. Tab system available
Price Range
Draft beer EUR 5-7, imported beer EUR 7-9, cocktails EUR 12-15, pub food EUR 12-20
Draft beer ~$5-8 USD, cocktails ~$13-16 USD
Hours
Monday to Thursday 4 PM to 1 AM, Friday to Saturday 4 PM to 3 AM, Sunday closed
Insider Tip
Thursday is the busiest night. Arrive by 7 PM to get a seat. The upper level is quieter for conversation. Check the schedule for major sports events, as the bar fills for Champions League matches.
Full Review
Scott's Pub is the social glue of Clausen. On any given Thursday evening, the bar holds representatives of perhaps twenty nationalities, most of whom work within a five-kilometer radius in Luxembourg's financial or institutional sectors. This makes it one of the most genuinely international pubs in Europe, even if it looks like any British pub from the outside.
The beer selection is adequate without being remarkable. Mousel and Bofferding represent the local brewing tradition, and several international taps cover the basics. The pub food is standard but filling, with burgers, fish and chips, and a few continental options. Nobody comes to Scott's for the cuisine.
The social dynamic is the real draw. Because Luxembourg's workforce is so international, and because Clausen is the default going-out district, Scott's functions as a networking space disguised as a pub. Conversations that start over a shared reaction to a football goal turn into professional connections. The regulars know this and lean into it.
On quieter nights, Monday through Wednesday, Scott's is a pleasant pub with good beer and a manageable crowd. On Thursday, it transforms into what is essentially a standing-room-only networking event with alcohol. Friday evening is active but empties earlier as the cross-border commuters head home for the weekend.
The main drawback is that Scott's is a pub, not a club. If you want dancing, cocktails, or late-night energy, you'll need to walk to The Tube or Urban Bar. Scott's role is to get the night started.
