Ikki
Ikki brings a Japanese-inspired cocktail concept to a Clausen space that's small, precise, and deliberately different from the pub atmosphere that dominates the valley. The bar seats about 50 people in a minimalist interior of dark wood, soft lighting, and clean lines. The cocktail menu is the centerpiece: each drink is constructed with attention to balance, presentation, and ingredient quality that reflects the Japanese approach to mixology. Yuzu, matcha, shiso, and Japanese whisky feature alongside European spirits and house-made syrups. The small plates menu complements the drinks with gyoza, edamame, and more complex offerings that work as either snacks or a light meal. The crowd is young professional, predominantly 28-40, and tends toward couples and small groups who've chosen Ikki deliberately rather than stumbling in from the pub next door.

Full Review
Ikki is the most distinctive venue in Clausen and possibly in Luxembourg City. In a nightlife scene dominated by pubs and basic bars, having a cocktail bar with genuine ambition stands out. The Japanese inspiration isn't cosplay; it's a genuine commitment to the philosophy of precision, balance, and respect for ingredients that defines Japanese bartending.
The cocktails justify the prices. Each drink is built with attention to dilution, temperature, and garnish that you rarely see outside dedicated cocktail cities. The yuzu sour, combining yuzu juice with Japanese whisky and egg white, is the house signature and represents the menu's philosophy perfectly: familiar enough to be approachable, different enough to be worth the trip.
The space works because it's small. Fifty people is enough to create atmosphere without crowding, and the bar seats offer a front-row view of the preparation process. The bartenders are happy to talk about their craft if you're interested, and watching them work is entertainment in itself.
The food shouldn't be an afterthought. The gyoza are handmade, and the more complex plates show genuine kitchen skill. Having both good drinks and good food in the same small venue makes Ikki work as a complete evening destination rather than just a drink stop.
The limitation is obvious: Ikki closes at midnight, and it's not a place for groups larger than six. It works brilliantly as a date venue or a quality-over-quantity cocktail session but not as a night-out destination.
