Dubai Marina & JBR, Dubai

Asia Asia occupies one of the upper floors of Pier 7 in Dubai Marina, combining a pan-Asian restaurant with a lounge bar that transitions into a late-night venue on weekends. The interior borrows from Southeast Asian and Japanese design with paper lanterns, dark wood, and low lighting. The menu spans sushi, dim sum, Thai curries, and robata grill dishes. After 10 PM on Thursdays and Fridays, tables are cleared from one section, a DJ takes over, and the venue shifts from dinner service to a standing-room lounge with cocktails and music.

What to Expect

An upscale Asian restaurant that becomes a social venue as the night progresses. Early evening is dinner-focused with attentive service and good food. Later, the lights dim further, the music rises, and the crowd stands to socialize. The transition is smooth and natural.

Full Review

Take the elevator in Pier 7 to Asia Asia's floor and you step into a space that does the Asian fusion concept better than most Dubai attempts. The entrance leads past a sushi counter into the main dining room, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame the marina. A separate lounge area sits to the right, with lower seating and its own bar.

The food is strong by Dubai hotel dining standards. Dim sum baskets arrive steaming and properly wrapped. The black cod miso is a reliable order. Sushi quality is good, though not at the level of dedicated Japanese restaurants in the city. The robata section turns out well-charred skewers and meats. Portions are sized for sharing, which matches the social setting.

The cocktail program leans on Asian ingredients: lychee, yuzu, sake infusions. Execution is consistent. Prices run AED 65-95 per drink, which falls in the expected range for a marina venue. The wine list is serviceable but not exceptional.

Saturday brunch is the venue's most popular session. The all-you-can-eat-and-drink format draws a lively crowd that typically continues drinking long after the food service ends. Book well in advance.

The evening transition from restaurant to lounge happens organically. By 11 PM on Thursdays, the dining room thins out and the lounge fills up. The DJ keeps the volume at a level where conversation is still possible, which is a welcome change from venues that crank the bass to uncomfortable levels.
