Tryst
Tryst is a cocktail-forward lounge bar on Waterfield Road in Bandra West, catering to the 28-and-above crowd that finds Toto's too loud and Trilogy too performative. The space is dark, well-designed, and intimate, with a long bar counter and scattered seating that encourages conversation. The cocktail menu is curated, the bartenders know their craft, and the music stays at a level where you can actually talk. No dance floor. No DJ booth. Just good drinks in a grown-up setting.
What to Expect
A calm, well-lit (by Mumbai bar standards) cocktail lounge with a professional bartending team, creative drink menu, and a crowd of professionals in their late twenties to forties. The food menu is small but good. Conversation is the main activity.
Sophisticated without being stuffy. The lighting is moody, the music is low, and the crowd knows how to hold a conversation. One of the few Mumbai bars that feels designed for adults.
Curated playlists: jazz, soul, lo-fi, and instrumental music kept at background levels
Smart casual. Collared shirts for men, no flip-flops. Less strict than Trilogy but more polished than Toto's.
Cocktail enthusiasts, date nights, professionals who want to talk, visitors who prefer quality drinks over loud music

Full Review
Tryst fills a gap in Bandra's nightlife that desperately needed filling: a bar for people who want great drinks and actual conversation. The space on Waterfield Road is compact but well-proportioned, with a marble-topped bar running the length of one wall and clusters of seating arranged for groups of two to six. The design is modern without trying too hard, using dark wood, brass accents, and soft lighting.
The cocktail program is the draw. The menu changes seasonally, with a core of classics executed properly and a rotating selection of house creations that use local ingredients. A smoked kokum margarita and a fennel-infused gin and tonic are recent highlights. Bartenders are trained and attentive, happy to customize drinks or suggest based on preferences. Standard cocktails run 600 to 800 INR, with premium options climbing to 1,000 INR.
The food menu supports the drinking experience without competing with it. Small plates, sliders, and shared appetizers are priced at 400 to 800 INR and executed cleanly.
The crowd is noticeably older and more professional than Bandra's club scene. You'll find media executives, lawyers, startup founders, and the occasional off-duty celebrity who doesn't want to be recognized. The gender balance is better than at most Mumbai bars, partly because the atmosphere is genuinely comfortable for women.
Tryst competes with The Little Door (which is harder to find and more exclusive) and Woodside Inn (which is more casual and pub-like). It sits in the sweet spot between the two: accessible but curated.
