Romantso
Romantso occupies a former printing house at Anaxagora 3-5, one block east of Pireos Street, operating as a creative hub that combines a bar, event space, gallery, and occasional co-working setup across a single large ground floor and an attached courtyard. The printing house identity is preserved in the industrial details: high ceilings, exposed concrete, salvaged signage from the original press operation. The courtyard is the social center of the venue, a tree-lined outdoor space with string lighting that fills reliably from 9 PM onward on warm evenings. Craft beer runs EUR 4-6, cocktails EUR 7-10. There is no cover charge on regular bar nights; ticketed events range from EUR 5 to 15. Live music nights feature Greek indie bands and electronic acts on a stage inside the main hall. The crowd is young, creative, and predominantly local, with strong representation from Athens university and arts communities.

Full Review
Romantso gets the balance right between cultural programming and bar function. Too many Athens creative spaces lean so far into the art direction that the bar becomes secondary. Romantso treats both as equal partners.
The courtyard is the real asset. Trees in a central Athens bar are not common, and the combination of their canopy with string lighting creates an atmosphere that works at any density. At 9 PM with 50 people spread across the space, it feels like a private party. At midnight with 200 people standing between the trees, it becomes a street festival.
The indoor stage handles live music competently for its size. Greek indie acts sound good here. The acoustics favor amplified music over quiet acoustic performances, which matches the programming.
The creative identity is genuine rather than curated. The printing-house heritage is not applied as decoration; it is embedded in the building structure.
