Dive Bar
Dive Bar is exactly what the name suggests: a small, underground, no-frills bar with cheap drinks and a loyal following. Located on Lado Asatiani Street, one block from Rustaveli Avenue, it occupies a basement space that fits maybe 60 people before reaching uncomfortable capacity. Beer costs GEL 5-8 ($1.85-3), shots GEL 5 ($1.85), and basic cocktails GEL 10-15 ($3.70-5.55). The venue has become a de facto meeting point for Tbilisi's nightlife crowd, particularly expats and younger Georgians who use it as a staging area before heading to clubs or other bars. DJ sets and occasional live acts play on weekends, but the real draw is the social atmosphere and the prices. No cover, no dress code, no pretension.
What to Expect
A tiny, loud, crowded basement bar where everyone talks to everyone. The lighting is dim, the furniture is mismatched, and the music comes from a basic speaker setup. It's deliberately unpretentious. On busy nights the crowd spills onto the street outside.
Cramped, friendly, and unapologetically cheap. The bar equivalent of a well-worn pair of shoes.
DJ sets ranging from indie to electronic, occasional live acoustic acts
Wear whatever you want. This is the least dressy venue in central Tbilisi.
Budget drinkers, solo travelers looking to meet people, and anyone needing a pre-club warm-up spot.
Cash preferred. Cards accepted but the machine is temperamental.

Insider Tip
Go early (before 10 PM) if you want a seat. By midnight on weekends, the bar is standing room only. It's a great first stop to meet people before deciding where to head next. The bartenders know the city's nightlife well and can recommend venues.
Full Review
You find Dive Bar by looking for a small sign and a staircase leading down from Lado Asatiani Street. The basement opens into a single room with a bar along one wall, some stools and small tables, and not much else. The ceiling is low. The walls are covered in stickers, posters, and the kind of graffiti that accumulates naturally in bars that don't repaint.
What makes Dive Bar work isn't the space; it's the social chemistry. The combination of rock-bottom prices and a central location creates a natural gathering point. Expats, backpackers, Tbilisi locals, and the occasional confused tourist all end up here, and the cramped quarters force interaction. It's nearly impossible to spend an hour at Dive Bar without talking to a stranger.
The drinks are simple and honest. Draft beer, basic spirits, and rudimentary cocktails. Don't order anything complicated; the bartender will give you a look. The shots are the cheapest in central Tbilisi at GEL 5, which contributes to the bar's reputation as a place where evenings escalate quickly.
Weekend DJ sets add energy but the sound system is basic. On the busiest nights, the bar overflows and a crowd forms on the street outside, creating an impromptu block party atmosphere. This is when Dive Bar is at its best and worst simultaneously: best for meeting people, worst for getting served.
The bar functions as Tbilisi's unofficial nightlife information desk. Regulars and bartenders know which clubs are running good nights, where after-parties are happening, and which venues to avoid. If you're new to the city, start here.

Getting There
A 3-minute walk from Rustaveli Avenue and about 7 minutes from Rustaveli metro station. Follow Lado Asatiani downhill from Rustaveli; the bar is marked by a small sign and a staircase. Bolt from anywhere in Tbilisi costs GEL 3-7.
