Cacao Beach
Cacao Beach is Sunny Beach's only venue with legitimate club credentials. Located on the sand at the resort's southern end, the open-air space combines a daytime beach club with a nighttime concert and DJ venue. The stage faces the sea, the dance floor sits on packed sand, and the capacity approaches 3,000 for major events. The booking policy brings Bulgarian electronic music stars alongside international acts from the deep house and techno circuits. Past lineups have included names familiar to anyone who follows European electronic music. Production values are high for a seasonal venue: proper sound, professional lighting, and a stage setup that wouldn't look out of place at a mid-tier festival. During the day, Cacao operates as a beach club with sun loungers (BGN 20-30), food service, and DJ sets from noon onward. The transition to evening event mode happens at sunset, and the energy builds from there. This is where Sofia's weekend visitors and Bulgaria's young professional class go when they're on the coast. The crowd is noticeably different from the Main Strip's tourist bars.
What to Expect
Daytime: a well-maintained beach setup with comfortable loungers, umbrella service, and a bar that makes proper cocktails. The music plays at relaxed volume. Nighttime: the space transforms. Stage lights illuminate the area, the sound system powers up, and the dance floor fills with a crowd that came specifically for the music. The Black Sea behind the stage adds an atmosphere that indoor clubs can't replicate.
Polished, musical, and distinctly different from the rest of Sunny Beach. This is the resort's one venue that could exist anywhere in Southern Europe and hold its own.
Deep house, tech-house, melodic techno, and progressive house. Daytime sets lean more chill; nighttime programming gets heavier.
Daytime: beach attire. Nighttime: smart casual. The crowd dresses up more than anywhere else in Sunny Beach. Resort wear works; board shorts and flip-flops feel out of place after dark.
Electronic music fans who want quality programming on the coast. Sofia weekenders. Couples. Anyone who wants the Sunny Beach beach experience without the Main Strip's chaos.
Cards and cash accepted. Some bar stations are card-only during events. EUR and BGN both work, though BGN gets a better rate.

Insider Tip
Check the event schedule online before visiting; not every night has programming. Daytime is best experienced from the front row of loungers, which fill early. For events, arrive by 11 PM to avoid the worst of the queue. The VIP area has better sightlines to the stage.
Full Review
Cacao Beach operates in a different category than everything else in Sunny Beach. Where the Main Strip serves cheap drinks to package tourists, Cacao serves a curated experience to people willing to pay a premium. That premium is still modest by Mediterranean standards, which is part of the appeal.
The daytime beach club runs smoothly. Loungers are comfortable, the bar makes drinks that taste like they should (rather than the spirit-light mixtures common on the strip), and the DJ sets provide a soundtrack without demanding attention. Food service is adequate; think beach club standards rather than restaurant quality.
Nighttime events are the real draw. The stage setup faces the sea, and on clear nights the combination of music, lighting, and the Black Sea horizon creates a genuinely memorable setting. The sound system handles the open-air challenge well, projecting across the sand dance floor without the muddiness that plagues many outdoor venues. DJ quality depends on the booking, but the venue attracts acts that wouldn't bother with most Bulgarian venues.
The crowd splits between Sofia weekenders who drive to the coast for the event and tourist visitors who've been told this is the one spot worth the upgrade. Both groups are right. VIP tables offer better sightlines and faster service, though the general admission dance floor is where the energy concentrates.
Pricing is 50-100% above Main Strip levels, which still puts it below comparable venues in Greece, Croatia, or Spain. The beach club lounger fees are the main daytime cost. Event entry varies with the lineup. Bottle service at VIP tables is the most expensive option but splits well among a group.
The Neighborhood
Cacao Beach is at the southern end of Sunny Beach, separated from the Main Strip by a 15-minute walk or a short taxi ride. The surrounding area is quieter than the strip, with a few upscale hotel restaurants nearby. Nessebar Old Town is accessible by taxi in 10 minutes.
Getting There
Walk 15 minutes south from the Main Strip along the beachfront or take a taxi (BGN 5-8). From Burgas Airport, a taxi costs BGN 25-40. The venue is well-signed from the main road and the beach path.
