Mexo Bar
Mexo Bar brings a Mexican theme to the Main Strip, layering tequila-heavy cocktails, nachos, and mariachi decor over the standard Sunny Beach party-bar format. The venue holds around 200 people across an interior bar and an outdoor terrace facing the strip. The drink menu leans hard on tequila and mezcal cocktails (margaritas, palomas, tequila sunrises) alongside the usual beer and fishbowl options. Shots rounds are a recurring feature, with bar staff organizing group shots and drinking games on a regular cycle. The atmosphere is purposefully loud and participatory: the MC or DJ keeps energy high, encourages audience involvement, and treats each night like an event rather than a regular bar shift. The crowd is predominantly British tourists in the 18-25 range. Mexo Bar functions best as a drinking destination during the 9 PM to midnight window, fueling the crowd before it disperses to the strip's larger clubs.
What to Expect
Mexican decor (sombreros, cacti, bright colors) over a standard strip-bar layout. The bar staff are energetic, leading chants and organizing shot rounds. The terrace is the calmer option; inside is louder and more chaotic. Nachos and quesadillas from the kitchen provide fuel. The overall effect is a themed drinking experience that doesn't take itself seriously.
Loud, silly, and participatory. The bar staff drive the energy. Expect shots, chants, and organized chaos.
Reggaeton, Latin pop, mainstream chart hits, and party anthems. The DJ/MC keeps things high-energy with audience interaction.
Resort casual. Sombreros provided for photos are optional and silly. No standards whatsoever.
Groups wanting a themed pre-club experience. Tequila fans. People who enjoy participatory drinking games and bar entertainment.
Cash and cards accepted. BGN preferred.

Insider Tip
The tequila selection is better than most strip bars; ask for specific brands rather than the house pour. Group shot deals are the best value. The nacho portions are large enough to share between two. Earlier evening is louder inside but the terrace stays conversational.
Full Review
Mexo Bar commits to its theme with enough sincerity to make it work. The Mexican decor is obviously artificial, but the tequila selection is genuine, the nachos are decent, and the bar staff bring enough energy to carry the room. In a strip full of generic drink-promotion bars, having a specific identity counts for something.
The outdoor terrace provides a people-watching position similar to Iceberg, though slightly smaller. Groups settle here for the transitional hours between dinner and clubbing. Inside, the volume ramps up earlier and stays high. The MC works the crowd with shot rounds, drinking games, and the kind of audience participation that works best when everyone is several drinks in.
The tequila cocktails are the menu's strength. Margaritas and palomas are made with actual tequila (ask for the branded options rather than the house pour). The kitchen turns out nachos and quesadillas that serve their purpose as drinking food without claiming to be authentic Mexican cuisine.
Pricing is in line with the strip average. No surprises in either direction. Service is fast and generally accurate, though checking your bill remains good practice anywhere in Sunny Beach.
Mexo Bar works best with a group, during the pre-club hours, for 1-2 hours. It's a stop on the night's itinerary, not the main event. The themed format and staff energy make it more memorable than the generic bars on either side.
