Boteco do Farias
Boteco do Farias is a long-running Barra boteco operating below the Farol Barra Flat hotel on Avenida Oceânica, serving cold beer and Bahian petiscos to a mix of locals and visitors. The space runs as an open-fronted ground-floor bar with sidewalk tables stretching along the building's frontage, plus a small interior bar for cooler nights. The petiscos menu (small plates designed for sharing with beer) is the kitchen's strength, with bolinho de bacalhau, queijo coalho grilled cheese skewers, fried calamari, and Bahian-style fish portions all priced 25-55 BRL per plate. The crowd is heavy on long-term Barra residents, returning seasonal visitors, and tourists from the Farol Barra Flat upstairs. Drinks pricing is moderate by Barra standards: beer R$10-16, caipirinhas R$20-30.

Full Review
Boteco do Farias sits in the ground-floor commercial space below the Farol Barra Flat building on Avenida Oceânica, with the open frontage facing the beach across the avenue. The space runs as an L-shape with a small bar and indoor seating tucked at the back and the long stretch of sidewalk tables along the frontage. Capacity sits around 70 between indoor and outdoor.
The petiscos menu is the venue's strongest offering. Bahian small plates designed for sharing with beer: bolinho de bacalhau (cod fritters), queijo coalho (grilled cheese skewers), fried calamari with lime, Bahian-style grilled fish portions, and dadinho de tapioca (tapioca-cheese cubes with sweet pepper jam) all priced R$25-55. The kitchen turns plates quickly and the execution is consistent.
Compared to Boteco do Caranguejo nearby, Farias is less seafood-focused and more general-petiscos in style. Compared to Boteco da Keka further down Avenida Oceânica, Farias is younger in feel and pulls a slightly more international crowd thanks to the hotel above. The three Avenida Oceânica botecos form a rotating circuit; many regulars and longer-stay visitors cycle between them through a week.
The regulars-club character is real. Many of the customers have been visiting for years and the staff knows faces and orders. New arrivals are welcomed without ceremony. Drinks pricing is moderate for Barra; the boteco runs more accessible than the upscale rooftop venues but more polished than inland street bars. Caipirinhas are well-built with proper cane sugar; one is sufficient for most visitors.
