Soho, London

The Box opened in 2011 on Walker's Court, a narrow alley that was once Soho's adult entertainment epicenter. The venue occupies a former Raymond Revuebar space, and the connection to Soho's theatrical history is deliberate. It functions as a nightclub with a difference: live cabaret performances happen throughout the night, ranging from acrobatics to burlesque to acts that push well beyond conventional entertainment. The crowd is a mix of celebrities, City workers, and tourists willing to pay GBP 20-50 entry. Table reservations with minimum spend (GBP 500-2,000+) are common on weekends. The door policy is strict and selective. Walk-ups without a reservation face long waits and possible refusal, especially on Saturdays.

What to Expect

A theatrical nightclub where performances happen on a central stage surrounded by seating and standing areas. The acts are provocative and unpredictable. Some performances involve audience interaction. The DJ plays between acts, keeping energy high. Drinks are expensive and the minimum spend for tables is steep.

Atmosphere

Dark, theatrical, and deliberately provocative. The energy builds through the night as performances escalate. It's designed to be memorable and slightly uncomfortable in equal measure.

Music

Commercial house, hip-hop, R&B between performances. The music supports the theatrical element rather than driving the night.

Dress Code

Smart. No trainers, no sportswear. The door staff are selective and will turn away anyone who doesn't meet the standard. Dress as if you're going somewhere expensive, because you are.

Best For

Groups looking for a unique, theatrical night out with money to spend. Not for a quiet drink or casual evening.

Payment

Cards only for table reservations. Bar accepts cards and cash.

Price Range

Entry GBP 20-50, drinks GBP 14-20, table minimum spend GBP 500-2,000+

GBP 20-50 ≈ USD 25-63 / EUR 23-59

Hours

Wed-Sat 10:30 PM to 3 AM. Closed Sun-Tue.

Insider Tip

Reserve a table if you can afford it; walk-ups face unpredictable door decisions. Arrive before midnight for the best chance of entry without a reservation. Don't bring a camera; phones are checked at the door on busy nights.

Full Review

Walker's Court is one of Soho's narrowest alleys, and the entrance to The Box doesn't announce itself loudly. A doorman, a rope, and a short queue mark the spot. Inside, the room is arranged around a central stage with a balcony above. The decor is dark, plush, and deliberately over-the-top.

The performances are what set The Box apart from every other London nightclub. Acts rotate and aren't announced in advance. They range from acrobatic displays and fire performances to burlesque and acts that are intentionally transgressive. Some performances involve audience members. If you're seated near the stage, be prepared for interaction.

Between acts, a DJ keeps the music going and people dance. The cocktails are competently made but priced at a premium that reflects the venue's positioning rather than the ingredients. Table service is efficient and attentive, partly because minimum spends guarantee it.

The door policy is the main barrier. Without a reservation, you're at the mercy of the door staff's assessment. Groups of men without women face the hardest time. Mixed groups and couples fare better. Celebrity sightings are common, which partially explains the selective entry.

Is it worth the price? That depends entirely on what you value. As a nightclub, there are better options for music and dancing. As a theatrical experience combined with a night out, there's nothing else quite like it in London.

The Neighborhood

Walker's Court connects Brewer Street to Berwick Street, right in Soho's center. Wardour Street and Dean Street are steps away with dozens of restaurant and bar options before or after The Box.

Getting There

Piccadilly Circus station (Bakerloo, Piccadilly lines) is a 3-minute walk. Leicester Square (Northern, Piccadilly) is 5 minutes. The venue is in the heart of Soho's pedestrian zone.
