Full Review
Mixology occupies a converted two-story building on Arak Road opposite Wattanothai School, with the ground floor running as a restaurant and the upstairs as a more cocktail-focused bar room. The aesthetic runs warm: exposed brick walls, Edison bulb lighting, polished wood tables, and vintage barware along the bar shelves. Capacity sits around 60 across the two floors.
The cocktail program is classic-leaning with serious execution. The menu runs Old Fashioned, Negroni, Manhattan, Sidecar, Aviation, and other 1900-1950s era cocktails, plus a small section of house twists using Thai ingredients. Pricing is in line with Caravan and Continental, with the room being similarly polished. The bartenders work each drink with care; expect three to five minutes per cocktail.
Compared to Caravan, Mixology is larger, has the restaurant infrastructure, and runs a slower dinner-then-drinks pace. Compared to Continental, Mixology is more open and less reservation-driven, with walk-ins easier to accommodate. Compared to Shelby, Mixology is less whiskey-focused and more classic-cocktail-driven. The four bars (Mixology, Caravan, Continental, Shelby) form the upper tier of Chiang Mai cocktails.
The restaurant menu runs Thai-Western fusion: dishes like green-curry risotto, tamarind-glazed pork belly, and tom-yum carbonara. Execution is decent but the cocktails are the stronger draw; many regulars eat elsewhere and come specifically for drinks. Reservations help on weekends but are not strictly required.
