The Deck Lounge
The Deck Lounge is an elevated terrace bar in the Chaweng district, set back slightly from the beach road and positioned on the second floor of a commercial block. The space is open-sided with rattan furniture, low tables, candles on the tables, and a general aesthetic pitched at couples and small groups wanting a quieter evening. The bar focuses on cocktails and spirits rather than beer pitchers and buckets. A selection of Thai and imported spirits drives the menu, with bartenders who can work to a brief. Capacity is about 40 to 60 people; a large booking group would fill the place. Music runs at background volume so conversation doesn't require shouting. It's one of the few venues in Chaweng that functions as a destination for a deliberate drink rather than a drop-in on a bar crawl.

Full Review
The Deck Lounge fills a gap in Chaweng's nightlife landscape. The district has plenty of beer bars, plenty of clubs, and a range of go-go venues. What it has less of is places where two or more people can drink cocktails and hear each other speak clearly. The Deck is that place.
The setting works. The elevated position separates you from the foot traffic below without isolating you from the island's tropical atmosphere. Ceiling fans and open sides mean it's cool without the artificial chill of full air conditioning. The furniture is comfortable for extended stays; this is a venue designed for sitting and staying rather than drinking fast and moving on.
Cocktails are made properly. The bartenders know what they're doing with spirits and are willing to make something off-menu if you describe what you want. Prices reflect the level of service rather than inflating for the tourist market. A 250 THB cocktail here is better value than a 200 THB cocktail at some of the busier spots where presentation and quality slide under pressure.
For solo travelers, the lounge format is less social than a beer bar or a busy club. There's no open floor for meeting people and the layout doesn't facilitate it. For couples or pre-formed groups, it's one of the better spots in Chaweng for a proper evening drink.
