D'Arc
D'Arc is a cocktail bar and lounge on Strada Mărășești that has built a reputation in Timișoara for drinks that are better made than the city average. The space is smaller than the clubs, seating around 80-100 people across the main bar area and an adjacent lounge section with softer seating. The bar itself is the focus: well-stocked, with bartenders who have a working knowledge of what they're making rather than just following a recipe card. The cocktail menu covers classics and house originals, with a bias toward spirit-forward drinks. The crowd trends toward young professionals and arts-scene regulars rather than students or tourists. It's a place for people who would rather spend 90 minutes over two well-made cocktails than rush through three poorly made ones.

What to Expect
A genuinely good cocktail bar by Romanian provincial city standards. Quieter and more intimate than the clubs. Better for focused drinking and conversation than for dancing.
Warm, slightly dim, focused on the bar. A place where regulars have their preferred seats.
Low-volume jazz, soul, and indie. Background rather than featured.
Casual smart. No enforcement, but the crowd sets a casual-professional tone.
People who prioritize drink quality, anyone wanting to avoid clubs, dates, and small group evenings.

Insider Tip
Arrive before 9 PM on Fridays to get a seat at the bar itself rather than the lounge section. The bar seats are where the better conversation happens. Ask what the bartender recommends rather than ordering straight from the menu; they often have seasonal ingredients on hand that aren't listed.
Full Review
D'Arc is the kind of bar that any city's good-drink subset finds within weeks of arrival. The setup is straightforward: a well-designed bar, a competent team, and a room that's been thought through rather than just furnished. The walls carry some art. The lighting is calibrated for evening use. The seating works.
The cocktail menu runs to about 20 drinks with house originals alongside classics. The house negroni variation uses Romanian plum brandy (tuica) as a substitute spirit in one of the options, which is worth trying if you've been here for a few days and want something locally inflected. The standard classics are made correctly: proper proportions, correct dilution, appropriate glassware.
Beer is available but secondary; this isn't a beer bar. Spirits by the glass are priced at 20-30 RON for standard options.
The crowd that occupies D'Arc on a regular Friday evening is recognizable: people in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties, a mix of Timisoara's design, arts, and tech scenes, some young professionals who work in the city's growing IT sector. Students exist in the mix but don't dominate the way they do at Heaven Studio.
For visitors, D'Arc fills a specific role. If you've done a club night and want to decompress, or if you're not in the mood for loud music and just want a good drink, this is the right place. It doesn't overstay its welcome and doesn't try to be something it isn't.
