Loft
Loft is a cocktail lounge on Calea Floreasca that does one thing well: good drinks in a grown-up setting. The interior is modern and sleek, all clean lines, warm lighting, and comfortable seating that invites you to stay for three drinks instead of one. The cocktail menu runs about 25 options mixing classics with house originals, and the bartenders have the skill to back up the menu. Music stays at conversation level until later in the evening when the DJ pushes it toward lounge-house territory. The crowd is professionals in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties who have moved past the student bar phase but don't want the spectacle of Kristal or Nuba.
What to Expect
A refined cocktail lounge with a sophisticated atmosphere. This is a talking-and-drinking venue, not a dancing one. The music is present but never competes with conversation. Good for early-evening drinks or a full cocktail evening.
Sleek, warm, and conversational. A properly adult drinking venue.
Lounge, deep house, nu-disco at conversation-friendly volume
Smart casual. No sportswear. The crowd puts effort in without being formal.
Cocktail enthusiasts and anyone wanting a sophisticated night out without the club experience.

Sit at the bar if you want to watch the bartenders work and get recommendations. The house originals are usually better than the classics. Thursday is a quieter night with a local crowd.
Full Review
Loft occupies a ground-floor space on Calea Floreasca with an interior that balances warmth and modernity. The design uses dark wood, leather seating, copper fixtures, and carefully positioned lighting that makes everyone look slightly better than they do outside. The bar is the centerpiece, a long counter backed by shelves of bottles and enough space for the bartenders to work without feeling cramped.
The cocktail menu is the real product. About 25 options split between classics and house originals, with seasonal rotations that keep regulars interested. The bar team knows their ingredients and techniques. Classics are executed properly (a Negroni tastes like a Negroni, not a sloppy approximation). House originals use local spirits, Romanian fruit, and seasonal ingredients with genuine creativity. Prices (40-60 RON) are in line with Floreasca's market but reasonable for the quality.
The wine list is short but curated, with Romanian and international labels available by the glass. Beer is available for those who want it. The food menu is minimal (snack-level) and clearly secondary to the drinks.
The atmosphere shifts through the evening. Early hours (6 PM to 9 PM) draw after-work professionals for quieter drinks. By 10 PM, the energy rises slightly. Late evening (11 PM onwards) sees the DJ push the volume up a notch, creating a lounge atmosphere that's more animated without crossing into club territory.
Loft works because it knows what it isn't. It's not a club, not a restaurant, not a scene venue. It's a well-designed space where the drinks are good, the music doesn't hurt, and the crowd is there to enjoy a civilized evening. For visitors who've had enough of Old Town's loud bars, this is the reset.
Reservations help on Friday and Saturday evenings but aren't strictly necessary. The space accommodates about 70 people comfortably.
