Mleczarnia
Mleczarnia translates to 'dairy,' a reference to the building's former life as a milk shop. The bar has occupied this space on ul. Meiselsa since the early 2000s, making it one of Kazimierz's original revival bars alongside Alchemia. The interior is filled with vintage furniture, old photographs, and decor that looks accumulated rather than curated. A courtyard garden in the back provides summer seating amid ivy-covered walls and mismatched outdoor furniture. The crowd is a mix of Kazimierz regulars, students, and visitors who appreciate atmosphere over Instagram aesthetics. Drinks are cheap, the staff are laid-back, and the whole place operates at a pace that suggests urgency is a concept from another neighborhood.

Insider Tip
The garden is the hidden gem. Walk through the bar to find it. On warm evenings it fills fast, so arrive before 7 PM for the best spots. The interior is best on cold or rainy evenings when the vintage furniture and dim lighting create a cozy retreat.
Full Review
Mleczarnia sits on Meiselsa, a residential side street a few minutes from Plac Nowy. The entrance opens into a front room with mismatched chairs, small tables, and walls covered in photographs and artwork. The lighting comes primarily from candles, which means the room feels intimate even when mostly empty. A second room deeper inside has more seating and a bar.
The courtyard garden is the discovery. Walk through the bar and out the back to find an enclosed space with ivy-covered walls, outdoor furniture, and an atmosphere that feels removed from the city. It's not large, maybe 40 seats, and fills quickly on summer evenings.
Drinks are straightforward. Beer, wine, and simple cocktails at prices that keep the old Kazimierz spirit alive. The bartenders work at their own pace. If you're in a hurry, this is the wrong bar. Service is friendly but unhurried, which matches the venue's overall philosophy.
Mleczarnia competes with Alchemia for the title of Kazimierz's most atmospheric bar. Where Alchemia is darker and more theatrical, Mleczarnia is warmer and more domestic. Both represent what made the district special before the cocktail bars arrived. Both are worth visiting.
The Neighborhood
Meiselsa is a quieter street running parallel to the busier Jozefa. The Old Synagogue and the Galicia Jewish Museum are nearby. The walk to Plac Nowy takes three minutes, connecting Mleczarnia to the district's main nightlife hub.
Getting There
Walk from Plac Nowy in three minutes south on Meiselsa. From the Rynek, walk 15 minutes through the Planty and past the Old Synagogue. Tram to Plac Wolnica, then five minutes on foot.
