Kolory
Kolory means 'colors,' and the bar's multi-level layout on Plac Nowy delivers a different hue on each floor. The ground level has a bar and standing area that opens directly onto the square, making it the most accessible drinking spot on Plac Nowy. Upstairs, a terrace overlooks the square and the zapiekanka stalls below, providing what might be the best people-watching seat in Kazimierz. The drink list is straightforward: Polish beers, basic spirits, and simple cocktails at prices calibrated for the student and backpacker crowd that forms the core clientele. Weekend nights get packed, with people moving between the indoor bar, the terrace, and the square itself in a fluid social loop.

Full Review
Kolory benefits massively from its location. Plac Nowy is Kazimierz's social hub, and having a bar that opens directly onto the square with an upper terrace overlooking everything is a significant advantage. The ground floor is a simple bar with a counter and limited seating. The draw is the direct access to the square, where the outdoor crowd and the bar crowd merge.
Upstairs, the terrace provides higher-angle views over the zapiekanka stalls, the milling crowds, and the surrounding bar entrances. On a warm summer evening, this is one of the most social spots in Krakow. Strangers talk to each other because the setting encourages it.
Drinks are cheap and basic. Polish draft beers, vodka shots, and simple mixed drinks dominate the orders. Nobody comes here for cocktail craft. The value proposition is location and atmosphere at budget prices.
On weekend nights, Kolory gets very crowded. The stairs between floors become a bottleneck, and the bar queues lengthen. This is the price of being at the center of the action. If the crowd becomes too much, a dozen alternative bars ring the square and line the surrounding streets. Kolory works best as a starting point: get a drink, claim a terrace spot, survey the square, and plan your next move.
