Greco
Greco occupies a terrace on one of the Old Town's central squares, the Trg izmedju crkava (Square Between the Churches), positioned between the Church of St. John and the Church of the Holy Trinity. The location gives it a natural advantage: the square is a crossroads of the main pedestrian routes through the Old Town, and the terrace catches foot traffic from every direction. The bar seats about 50 on the square and another 30 inside a stone-walled interior. The setup is simple: a bar counter, basic cocktail and beer menu, and a sound system that transitions from background music to DJ sets as the evening progresses. Greco has operated on this square for over a decade and functions as a meeting point for people starting their night in the Old Town.
What to Expect
You walk into the square and see Greco's terrace filling one side, with church facades on two others. The setting is atmospheric. By late evening, the square hums with conversation and music. The crowd is a mix of young tourists, Serbian weekenders, and local hospitality workers finishing shifts.
Central, social, and lively without being overwhelming. The church square setting adds character.
Pop, commercial house, and Balkan beats. DJs play from 10 PM on weekends. Earlier hours feature relaxed background music.

Full Review
Greco's appeal is straightforward: it sits on the best people-watching square in the Old Town, and it serves drinks competently at fair prices. The bar doesn't try to be more than that, and it works because of it.
The terrace tables are the point. From a seat on the square, you watch the Old Town's evening parade unfold. Groups move between bars, couples pose for photos against the church facades, and the square's acoustics create a pleasant hum of overlapping conversations. The bar's own music competes with sound bleed from nearby venues, creating an accidental mix that's somehow appropriate.
Drinks are simple and well-priced. Domestic beer on tap is the best value. The cocktail list covers the basics without attempting craft credentials. Rakija, served in small glasses, is the local choice and Greco does it right. Food is limited to bar snacks.
The venue functions as a junction point for Old Town nightlife. Most people pass through the square at some point during the evening, and Greco's terrace catches them. It's a natural first-stop or between-stops bar rather than a destination. Staying all night is fine but moving on after a drink or two is the more common pattern, and the bar seems designed for that flow.
