Casper Bar
Casper Bar occupies a prime spot built directly into Budva's medieval fortress walls on the eastern side of the Old Town. The terrace drops down toward the Adriatic, offering unobstructed sea views that make it one of the most photographed bar locations on the Montenegrin coast. The interior is carved from the old stone, with exposed walls and vaulted ceilings that stay cool even in peak summer heat. Capacity sits around 80 inside and another 60 on the terrace. The bar operates seasonally from late April through October, with extended hours during July and August. Two bartenders work the main bar, mixing a cocktail list that leans toward Mediterranean flavors, with citrus and herbal combinations featuring local ingredients. Weekend nights bring a DJ playing house and deep house from a small booth near the terrace entrance.
What to Expect
Walking in, you pass through a narrow stone doorway into a cool, dimly lit interior. The terrace beyond opens up to a wide sea panorama. The crowd is mixed: tourists, young Montenegrins, and Serbian visitors. Music stays at conversation level until around 11 PM when the DJ turns it up.
Relaxed and scenic. The medieval stone setting combined with sea views creates a distinctly Mediterranean mood.
Deep house, nu-disco, and chill electronic during early evening, transitioning to vocal house after 11 PM
Smart casual. Clean shorts and a polo shirt work fine. Swimwear won't fly.
Couples looking for sunset drinks, small groups who want atmosphere without a full club commitment
Cash (euros) and cards accepted. Cash preferred for small orders.

Full Review
Casper earns its reputation on location alone. The terrace, cut into the Old Town walls with nothing between you and the Adriatic, is the kind of setting that makes you understand why Budva draws people back every summer. The engineering of building a functional bar into medieval fortifications deserves credit, and the venue makes the most of it.
The cocktail program is solid without reaching for innovation. Mediterranean-inspired mixes using local herbs and citrus are the strength. A basil and grapefruit gin cocktail stood out on a recent visit, fresh and balanced without the sweetness that plagues many resort bars. The wine list focuses on Montenegrin and Croatian bottles, with Vranac (Montenegro's signature red grape) available by the glass. Beer is standard: Niksicko on tap and a few international bottles.
The crowd shifts through the evening. Early arrivals are couples and small groups watching the sunset, often with cameras out. By 11 PM, the composition changes to a younger, louder crowd, and the DJ responds by pushing the volume. The terrace stays social; the interior becomes more of a drinking spot. Service is attentive early and stretched thin late, which is the universal bar truth in any tourist town.
Casper works best as a first stop on an Old Town bar crawl. The sunset terrace experience is the draw, and trying to stay past midnight means competing with a different energy. Start here, enjoy the view, then wander into the alleys for something louder.
The Neighborhood
Casper sits on the eastern wall of the Old Town, accessible through the stone alleys from the main square. Greco and Bar Cuba are within a 2-minute walk. The main gate and taxi drop-off point is about 3 minutes north.
Getting There
Enter the Old Town through the main gate on the north side. Walk south through the main alley, then turn left toward the eastern walls. Casper's entrance is marked by a small sign on the stone wall. From the harbor, it's a 5-minute walk through the gate.
