Heli Lounge Bar
Heli Lounge Bar occupies an actual helicopter landing pad on the 34th floor of Menara KH on Jalan Sultan Ismail. The concept is exactly what it sounds like: you ride a lift to the top of the building, step out onto a rooftop, and find yourself standing on the painted H of a functioning helipad that doubles as an open-air bar. No walls. No railings at the outer edge (though a low barrier keeps you from the very edge). Just a flat platform with 360-degree views of KL's skyline, including the Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, and the sprawl of the city below. The bar is a basic setup of standing tables and a portable bar counter. Capacity is limited to around 100 people for safety reasons. When it rains or winds pick up, the rooftop closes and drinkers move to the 33rd floor indoor bar below. On clear nights, it's one of the most memorable drinking spots in Southeast Asia.
What to Expect
The lift opens onto a short staircase that leads to the rooftop. Step out and the skyline surrounds you. There's nothing between you and the view except air. On clear nights, the Petronas Towers glow directly to the east, and KL Tower rises to the north. The bar is minimal by design; this isn't a place for elaborate cocktails or fine dining. It's a place for a drink with one of the best city views available.
Open-air, breezy, and slightly surreal. Drinking on a helipad 34 floors up with no walls creates a feeling that ranges from thrilling to mildly terrifying, depending on your comfort with heights.
Background lounge music played through portable speakers. The city noise and conversation provide most of the soundtrack.
No strict dress code. Smart casual is appropriate. Avoid high heels if you want to walk comfortably on the helipad surface. Flat shoes or clean sneakers work.
Anyone who wants a genuinely unique drinking experience. First-time KL visitors chasing a skyline view. Photographers and Instagram content creators.
Cash and cards accepted. Cash is faster at the portable bar.

Insider Tip
Go on a clear night. The view is the entire point, and haze or rain kills it. Arrive around 6:30 PM for sunset views before the after-work crowd fills the space. The 33rd floor indoor bar is the backup plan, but it's a completely different experience. Bring a light jacket; it can be breezy at 34 floors up.
Full Review
Menara KH is an office building that wouldn't draw a second glance from street level. The lobby is corporate, the lift is standard, and nothing prepares you for what's on the roof. Step out at the 34th floor, climb a short flight of stairs, push through a door, and suddenly you're standing on a helicopter pad with the KL skyline at eye level.
The first impression is the view. On a clear night, the Petronas Towers dominate the eastern skyline, lit up in silver and gold. KL Tower punctuates the north. The city's highways draw ribbons of light below. There are no walls on the helipad, just a low concrete barrier at the edges and a railing that feels more symbolic than structural. If you're uncomfortable with heights, the 33rd floor bar below offers a safer alternative with windows.
The bar itself is intentionally simple. A portable counter, a few bartenders, standing tables, and basic seating. The cocktail menu exists but isn't the draw. Order a beer or a simple mixed drink and focus on the surroundings. The wind picks up occasionally, reminding you that you're on an exposed rooftop thirty-four stories up.
Capacity limits mean the space never feels overcrowded. On busy Friday nights, you might wait 15 to 20 minutes downstairs before being allowed up. Sunset draws the biggest crowd, roughly 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. After 9:30 PM, the pace slows and the helipad feels more intimate.
The weather dependency is real. Rain closes the rooftop immediately, and the haze season from June through September can reduce visibility to the point where the view isn't worth the trip. Check conditions before heading over.
The Neighborhood
Menara KH sits on Jalan Sultan Ismail, the major road that connects Bukit Bintang to the northern part of KL. The building is about a 10-minute walk from Changkat Bukit Bintang. The surrounding area is commercial during the day but quiets after office hours. Lot 10 Hutong, a food court in the Lot 10 mall basement, offers affordable pre-drink dinner options 5 minutes' walk south.
Getting There
Walk from Bukit Bintang MRT in about 12 minutes north along Jalan Sultan Ismail. Grab from KLCC costs MYR 6-12. The building entrance is on the Jalan Sultan Ismail side. Tell reception you're going to Heli Lounge Bar, and they'll direct you to the correct lift bank.
