Icon Klub
Icon Klub represents Vientiane's attempt at a modern, youth-oriented nightclub. The venue occupies a renovated space near the Mekong Riverfront with a clean interior that sets it apart from the city's rougher late-night options. A proper sound system, LED wall panels, and a layout that separates the dance floor from the lounge area show genuine investment in the concept. Capacity sits around 200 people. The target audience is young, fashion-conscious Lao professionals and university students, and the venue delivers a clubbing experience that would feel at home in Chiang Mai or Phnom Penh if not quite Bangkok. Weekend lineups feature local DJs and occasional guest spots from Thai artists, playing sets heavy on K-pop remixes, Thai pop, and international EDM. The bar stocks premium spirits alongside the usual Beer Lao, and the cocktail menu is more ambitious than most Vientiane venues attempt. Table service with bottle packages is popular among Lao groups celebrating birthdays or nights out.
What to Expect
A polished entrance opens into a dark room with professional lighting and a sound system that actually handles bass properly. The dance floor glows under LED panels. Young Lao couples and friend groups fill the tables while others gravitate toward the bar or the dance floor. It feels like someone studied clubs in bigger cities and built a scaled-down version for Vientiane.
Slick, youthful, and high-energy for Vientiane standards. The most 'international' feeling club in the city.
K-pop remixes, Thai pop, EDM, international top 40 with occasional hip-hop sets
Trendy casual. Lao clubgoers dress up for Icon Klub more than any other venue in the city. Jeans and a nice shirt minimum for men. Sneakers are fine.
Young travelers who want a modern club experience. Lao locals who take their nightlife seriously. Date nights where the setting matters.
Cash (Lao kip) preferred. Limited card acceptance for bottle service. Bring cash.

Full Review
Icon Klub stands out on the Vientiane nightlife map because it actually tries. Where most venues in the city settle for a sound system and some colored lights, Icon invested in proper acoustic treatment, an LED wall behind the DJ booth, and interior design that creates distinct zones: dance floor, lounge seating, and a bar area with enough breathing room to order without shouting.
The crowd is noticeably younger and more image-conscious than at Marina or Future. Lao women dress up, men wear collared shirts, and the selfie count per square meter exceeds any other bar in the city. This isn't a criticism. The effort people put into their appearance reflects how seriously the local crowd takes this venue.
Music programming leans heavily toward K-pop and Thai pop, with EDM drops bridging transitions. International tracks get woven in strategically. The DJ reads the room and adjusts, which matters because the crowd shifts between Lao pop singalong energy and EDM dance-floor intensity throughout the night.
Drink prices sit at the top of Vientiane's range, which still means they're cheap by any international measure. The cocktails here are the best you'll find in a Vientiane nightclub, though that bar is admittedly low. Beer Lao remains the safest choice if you don't trust the mixing.
Icon Klub isn't going to compete with clubs in bigger cities. But within Vientiane, it represents the top end of what's available, and for a night out that feels like a genuine clubbing experience rather than a bar that turned up the volume, it delivers.
The Neighborhood

Getting There
Tuk-tuk from central Vientiane costs 20,000 to 30,000 LAK. Walking from Nam Phu fountain takes about 15 minutes along the riverfront. The venue is well-known locally, so any tuk-tuk driver will recognize the name.
