Future
Future nightclub occupies a space just off the main Mekong Riverfront strip in Vientiane, distinguishing itself primarily by staying open later than the competition. While most bars along Fa Ngum Road call last orders around midnight, Future regularly runs until 2 AM and sometimes stretches to 3 AM on weekends when enforcement is relaxed. The interior is a single large room with a dance floor, DJ booth, and bar along one wall. Capacity sits around 150 to 200 people. The decor leans industrial with concrete walls, minimal lighting, and a sound system that handles the room adequately without breaking any ground. The crowd is a genuine mix: young Lao clubgoers, expats who've run out of options at midnight, and tourists looking for the last place standing. Table service with bottle packages accounts for most of the revenue, while the bar handles walk-up drink orders. The DJ rotation covers local and regional talent playing sets that lean toward EDM and Thai club music.
What to Expect
A dark room that's half-empty at 10 PM and packed by midnight. Bass thumps through the concrete walls. Groups cluster around tables with bottles of whiskey, while the dance floor fills gradually. It's not polished, but the late-night energy is genuine.
Raw and energetic once it fills up. Feels like the last party in a city that's gone to bed.
EDM, Thai club remixes, hip-hop, and Lao pop. The DJ reads the room and adjusts.
Casual. Jeans and a clean shirt work fine. Nobody's checking at the door beyond basic dress standards.
Night owls who want to keep going after the rest of Vientiane shuts down. The default after-midnight destination.
Cash only (Lao kip). Bring enough for the night; there's no ATM inside.

Insider Tip
This is where people end up after everything else closes, so don't arrive before 11:30 PM. The crowd doesn't peak until midnight or later. Stick to beer or bottled drinks. The back area near the DJ booth gets the best sound.
Full Review
Future doesn't try to compete with Marina on production values or with the riverfront bars on atmosphere. Its selling point is simple: it's open when everything else is closed. The venue sits just off Fa Ngum Road, easy to miss if you don't know to look for it. A small sign and a bouncer mark the entrance.
Inside, the layout is straightforward. One room, one bar, one dance floor. The lighting is minimal, mostly LED strips that pulse with the music. Sound quality is decent without being impressive. The DJ booth occupies a raised platform at one end, and the best sound sits in the back third of the room.
Before midnight, the place is quiet. A few tables occupied, the bar half-staffed, the dance floor empty. By 12:30 AM, the picture changes. People filtering in from closed bars bring their energy with them. The dance floor fills, the bar line grows, and the room takes on the kind of desperate, joyful energy that only a last-chance venue generates. By 1:30 AM on a Saturday, you can't move without bumping into someone.
Drink quality is basic. Beer Lao from the bottle is the safest order. Cocktails are functional at best. Bottle service is the way most Lao groups operate here, with Johnnie Walker Black being the standard order. Service at the tables is prompt; at the bar, patience helps.
Future fills a niche that Vientiane's nightlife needs. It's not the best venue in the city, but it's the one you'll end up at when you're not ready to go home. Accept it on those terms and you'll have a good time.
The Neighborhood
Located just off the main Mekong Riverfront strip, a short walk from Marina nightclub and the cluster of beer bars along Fa Ngum Road. Food vendors and late-night noodle shops operate nearby until the early hours, which is useful for post-club eating.
Getting There
Walk from the riverfront bars in 5 to 10 minutes. Tuk-tuk from central Vientiane costs 20,000 to 30,000 LAK. Getting a ride home after 2 AM can be difficult, so arrange transport before you go in or ask the staff to call a driver.
