Psyrri, Athens

Six d.o.g.s at Avramiotou 6-8 is an arts bar and cultural space with an indoor stage, a hidden garden courtyard, and a regular lineup of DJs, bands, art exhibitions, and film screenings. The garden is the venue's secret weapon, a tree-lined courtyard with string lights and a separate bar that operates as a peaceful retreat from central Athens. The indoor space hosts live music on a proper stage with decent sound, booking mostly Greek indie and alternative acts with occasional international names. DJ sets run on weekends with programming that leans electronic, indie dance, and leftfield. Drinks are reasonably priced at EUR 5 to 8 for cocktails and EUR 4 to 5 for craft beer. No cover for regular bar nights; ticketed events range from EUR 5 to 20. The crowd is young, artsy, and predominantly local, with a loyal base of regulars who treat the garden as their second living room. Food is limited to bar snacks. The interior has an industrial aesthetic with exposed pipes and concrete, while the garden feels like an entirely different venue with its greenery and fairy lights.

What to Expect

Enter through a narrow passage into a two-part world. The indoor section is a long room with a bar and stage at the back. Go through the door at the side and you're in the garden, which feels impossibly calm for a spot this central. Trees, hanging lights, and scattered seating create an atmosphere that shifts from lazy afternoon to social evening as the sun goes down.

Atmosphere

Split personality. The garden is peaceful and conversation-friendly. The indoor space gets loud and energetic on live music nights.

Insider Tip

Head straight to the garden if the weather's good. The indoor bar and garden bar have slightly different menus. Check their program for live music nights, as the best shows sell out through social media before you'll see them advertised elsewhere.

Full Review

Six d.o.g.s is two venues sharing one address. The indoor space functions as a proper live music club with a stage, sound system, and lighting that handles bands and DJs equally well. The programming leans toward the Greek indie scene, with occasional bookings that punch above the venue's modest size. On a good night, the room fills with a crowd that's there for the music and the atmosphere builds naturally.

The garden is something else entirely. Hidden behind the building, it opens into a courtyard filled with mature trees, string lights, and an assortment of seating that ranges from benches to cushioned areas. The bar back here serves the same drinks as inside but the pace is completely different. Afternoons in the garden are some of the most pleasant hours you can spend in central Athens, and the space fills gradually as evening arrives.

The venue runs a café operation during the day, which means you can arrive at noon for a coffee and still be there at midnight for a DJ set. This flexibility is part of its appeal. The crowd transitions from laptops-and-lattes to cocktails-and-conversation naturally, and the staff adjusts the vibe accordingly.

The only downside is that the garden's reputation has spread, meaning summer weekends can get crowded enough to lose the relaxed quality that makes it special. Weekday evenings are the sweet spot.

The Neighborhood

Six d.o.g.s is on Avramiotou Street in Psyrri, one of central Athens' most walkable nightlife neighborhoods. The surrounding streets are lined with bars, tavernas, and small shops. It's a natural starting point for an evening in Psyrri, with easy access to dozens of other venues within a few minutes' walk.
