(2,200 reviews)
Khreshchatyk, Kyiv

Skybar occupies the top floor of a high-rise at 5 Velyka Vasylkivska Street, just off Khreshchatyk, offering panoramic views of central Kyiv from the 16th floor. The venue operates as a bar, lounge, and occasional club space with a rooftop terrace open in warmer months. The interior is sleek and modern: LED lighting, mirrored surfaces, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of St. Sophia Cathedral, the Dnipro River, and the Kyiv skyline. DJ sets run on weekends, leaning toward house and commercial electronic. Cocktails cost UAH 250-450, making it one of Kyiv's most expensive bars. The crowd skews toward Kyiv's fashion, business, and social media circles. Weekend cover charges run UAH 200-400. Reservations are recommended for window tables. Skybar has continued operating through the war, though the reality of being on the 16th floor during air raids adds a dimension that didn't exist pre-2022.

What to Expect

An elevator ride to the 16th floor opens onto a space designed for visual impact. The Kyiv skyline stretches in every direction, golden domes catching the last light or glowing under floodlights at night. The music is upbeat but not overwhelming. People dress up, take photos, and order drinks that cost twice what they'd pay in Podil. It feels like a pre-war luxury that has somehow persisted.

Atmosphere

Polished, aspirational, visually stunning. The contrast between the glamorous interior and the reality outside the windows defines the experience.

Music

House, commercial electronic, deep house, occasional live DJ sets with international bookings.

Dress Code

Smart casual minimum. Men in button-down shirts or polo, women in cocktail attire. Sportswear and flip-flops won't make it past the host.

Special occasions, sunset drinks, date nights, visitors who want upscale views over underground authenticity.

Insider Tip

Reserve a window table through their Instagram or phone for the best views. Arrive by 8 PM on weekends to beat the crowd. When an air raid alert sounds, follow staff to the designated shelter immediately; do not stay on the rooftop. The terrace is best at sunset, around 7-8 PM in summer.

Full Review

Skybar exists in the tension between pre-war Kyiv's aspirational nightlife and the wartime reality visible from every window. The 16th-floor vantage point that once simply offered beautiful views now frames a city where you can sometimes see the flash of air defense systems at night.

The interior does its best to maintain the illusion of normalcy. LED strips pulse in sync with the DJ's set. The bartenders mix cocktails with practiced showmanship. Tables near the windows go first, and couples lean against the glass for photos with the city below. It's Instagram-ready, and people use it that way.

The cocktails are competent rather than groundbreaking. You're paying for altitude, not for liquid artistry. The Kyiv Mule (their signature vodka cocktail) is solid. The wine list is adequate. The real reason to order is to have something in your hand while you look at the view.

The elephant in the room is safety. Being on the 16th floor during an air raid alert is not ideal. Skybar has an evacuation protocol that moves people to designated shelter areas in the building's lower floors. Staff are drilled on this. It runs smoothly when it happens. But the first time you hear a siren from the rooftop of a building in a city that gets struck by ballistic missiles, the glamour evaporates instantly.

The Neighborhood

Skybar sits just south of Khreshchatyk on Velyka Vasylkivska Street, a major avenue connecting the center to the southern neighborhoods. Bessarabska Square and its food market are a five-minute walk. Arena City entertainment complex is within a ten-minute radius. The Khreshchatyk metro station is nearby.

Getting There

Khreshchatyk metro (Red Line) or Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho metro (Blue Line), both within a five-minute walk. Bolt from Podil costs UAH 60-100. The building entrance is on Velyka Vasylkivska; take the elevator to the 16th floor.
