Paspatur Bar

Kaleiçi, Antalya

Paspatur Bar is one of Kaleici's reliable evening spots, built around a courtyard that fills with live music most nights during the tourist season. The setup is simple: an open-air courtyard surrounded by old stone walls, a stage in one corner, tables scattered across the space, and a bar along one side. Musicians play Turkish folk, rock covers, and acoustic pop starting around 9 PM. The sound quality is surprisingly good for an outdoor venue, helped by the enclosed courtyard layout. Cocktails here are strong and reasonably priced at TRY 180-300 (EUR 4.50-8). Beer runs TRY 80-130 (EUR 2-3.25). The kitchen does basic plates, enough to keep you going through a long evening. Staff are notably friendly and speak serviceable English. The crowd is a genuine mix: Turkish couples, backpackers from nearby hostels, and older European tourists who found the place on a evening walk through the old town. Things stay relaxed until about 11 PM when the music picks up tempo and people start dancing between the tables. The courtyard holds maybe 100 people comfortably, so it fills without feeling claustrophobic.

Full Review

Paspatur won me over within 20 minutes. I walked in expecting a standard tourist bar and found a genuine neighborhood hangout that happens to sit inside a 500-year-old courtyard. The musician on stage, a Turkish guy with an acoustic guitar and a voice that carried effortlessly, was playing Baris Manco covers when I arrived and transitioned into Pink Floyd without missing a beat.

I ordered a mojito (TRY 220) that was properly made, not the sugary tourist version. The bar uses fresh mint from pots growing along the courtyard wall, which is a nice detail. A second drink, a gin and tonic, was equally solid. Food options are limited but the mixed meze plate at TRY 120 paired well with drinking.

What surprised me was how mixed the crowd was. A Turkish family celebrating a birthday at one table. A group of Australian backpackers at another. An older German couple who told me they'd been coming back every summer for five years. Everyone talked to everyone. The musician took requests and somehow knew every song shouted at him.

The evening builds gradually. Early arrivals get quiet acoustic music and conversation. By 11 PM, the tempo shifts, the volume rises, and the courtyard becomes something closer to a party. It never gets rowdy, though. The space self-regulates.

The Neighborhood

Paspatur Bar sits on one of Kaleici's side streets, away from the main tourist drag but close enough to catch foot traffic. The name references the old Paspatur bazaar area, a neighborhood of narrow lanes and converted Ottoman houses.

Getting There

Inside Kaleici, walkable from any point in the old town. From Hadrian's Gate, head south into the old town and ask for directions; locals know it. About 7 minutes on foot from the main gate.
