Black Cat's Bar
Black Cat's Bar is a casual open-front bar at The Walk @ Kata complex, with cheap cocktails (some from 99 THB), friendly staff, and a small dance area that fills later in the night. The format is backpacker-friendly casual bar rather than polished beach club: open frontage with a bar running the length of one wall, high-tops scattered across the floor, and a small dance space at the back. Drink prices are among the lowest in Kata; the happy hour deals extend through much of the early evening. The crowd is younger budget travelers, longer-stay backpackers, and weekend visitors looking for the cheapest Kata night out. The Walk @ Kata location places it in a cluster of similar venues; bar-hopping across the complex is natural.

Full Review
Black Cat's Bar sits in The Walk @ Kata complex, the covered open-air cluster of bars and small restaurants on the inland side of the central beach area. The bar's open frontage spills directly onto the pedestrian walkway; the long bar runs along one interior wall, with high-tops scattered across the floor and a small dance space at the back.
The drink pricing is the venue's primary draw. Cocktails start at 99 THB during happy hour (which runs through most of the early evening); beer sits at 80-150 THB. The mojitos, mai tais, and standard tropical cocktails are competently mixed; nothing on the menu rises above standard but the prices justify the format.
The Walk @ Kata location is part of the appeal. The complex holds 8-10 similar bars and small restaurants, all with open frontage and casual formats; bar-hopping across the complex is natural and most visitors sample several venues over a night. The combined energy of the complex is louder than any individual venue.
The crowd is the youngest in Kata. Backpacker groups, budget travelers, and longer-stay tourists looking for the cheapest Kata night are the core demographic. Conversation between strangers is easier than at the polished cocktail bars; the format encourages mixing.
The small dance area at the back fills later in the night. By 22:00, the bar's playlist shifts toward EDM and Top 40 dance tracks; the dance space picks up steam through 00:00. The venue closes by 02:00, after which patrons either head home or move to the late-night options on Patak Road.
Compared with Surf House (flowrider and beach-loud), Black Cat's is more conversational and runs cheaper drinks. Compared with the other The Walk bars, it's been around longer and pulls more repeat traffic.
