After Beach Bar
After Beach Bar is a hilltop bar on the road from Kata Beach to Nai Harn, with one of Phuket's most photographed panoramic sunset views over the Andaman Sea. The space spans multiple terraces built into the hillside, with covered and open seating across three levels. Reggae and chilled tropical music dominate the playlist; the food and drink menu sticks to casual tropical fare. The bar fills steadily from late afternoon, with the sunset hour from 18:00 the peak. Drink prices sit at the Kata standard tier; the view is what draws the crowd rather than the menu. The hilltop location means the walk back to Kata is downhill and unlit; most visitors arrange Bolt or hotel transport for the return.

Full Review
After Beach Bar sits on the cliff road climbing from Kata Beach toward Nai Harn, perched on a hillside that catches the western Andaman view. The road from Kata winds up through the hills; the bar's signage points off the road into a small parking area. The terraces step down the hillside in three levels, with the lowest level closest to the cliff edge and the highest most sheltered.
The view is the venue's anchor. The panorama spans the Andaman from the south end of Kata Yai across the open water; the sunset positions directly over the sea from October through March, with the angle shifting north during the monsoon months. The cliff-edge seats catch the full view; the upper terraces still have decent sightlines but feel more sheltered.
The reggae playlist runs continuously from late morning. The format matches the Ska Bar template: Bob Marley dominates the rotation with the broader reggae and tropical catalog filling the gaps. The volume sits at conversation level except during the sunset peak when it rises slightly.
The drink menu is the standard Kata tropical fare: cocktails (mojitos, piña coladas, mai tais), beer (Singha, Chang, Heineken, imports), and a wine list that's decent for a hilltop bar. The food menu covers Thai standards (pad thai, green curry, fried rice) and a few Western options (burgers, fish and chips). Nothing on the menu rises above standard but execution is reliable.
The happy hour from 15:00 to 17:00 runs cocktail deals and is the practical way to enjoy the venue before the sunset crowd arrives. From about 17:00, the seats fill quickly; by 17:30, the cliff-edge sections are taken. The peak sustains through 18:30; after sunset the crowd thins gradually until 21:00.
Compared with Ska Bar (rocks-and-beach format), After Beach Bar is more polished and offers broader views. Compared with Fira (resort club format), it's more casual and reggae-leaning. The hilltop location is the differentiator; few Phuket beach bars offer the same view from this height.
