The Bangla Plaza cluster is the actual format. Bar-hopping across 4-5 of the small bars in the cluster is the typical Karon evening for visitors interested in the format; Happy Bar works as one stop among several. The combined cluster energy is more interesting than any single bar.

Compared with the Patak Road pub circuit (Angus O'Tool's, The Garage), Happy Bar is much smaller, more casual, and built around regular expat traffic. The format isn't trying to compete with the live music venues; it's running as a casual neighborhood spot in a small cluster.
