Shamrock Bar Lamai
Shamrock Bar Lamai is an Irish-style pub on Lamai's main strip, running with sports screens, pool tables, and a selection of international beers on tap. The interior has the standard expat-pub layout: long bar, barstools, tables with chairs, and screens positioned for multiple viewing angles. It's been in operation for several years and has accumulated a regular crowd of Samui expats and long-stay tourists who value the pub format over the beer bar or club alternatives. Guinness and Kilkenny are available on tap alongside the standard Thai lagers. The pub serves food from midday and operates as an all-day venue rather than evening-only.

Full Review
Shamrock does what it does reliably: cold draught beer, sports on multiple screens, pool tables, and an atmosphere that doesn't require you to navigate the social dynamics of a beer bar or the energy of a club. It's an uncomplicated option for a Tuesday evening when the clubs are quiet and the beer bars feel like too much effort.
The pub food is honest rather than ambitious. Burgers and chips, fish and chips, nachos. Nothing that's going to compete with the Thai restaurant two doors down for taste or value, but filling and consistent. The kitchen operates until around 10 PM, which gives it an advantage over venues that stop food service early.
The regular expat crowd at Shamrock is the pub's main social asset. These are people who've been on Samui for months or years and have worked out what's real and what's theater. Conversations at the bar can be unusually informative if you're trying to understand the current state of the island's various scenes. People here are generally forthcoming to visitors who approach with genuine curiosity rather than treating them as a source of performance.
For travelers on a tight budget, Shamrock's prices compare favorably to the clubs. A full evening of drinking at Thai lager prices costs considerably less than a night at Green Mango Club in Chaweng.
