Thursday Party
Thursday Party is a Hongdae club that built its identity around one simple idea: making Thursday night the start of the weekend. The venue has a single large room with a raised DJ booth, a dance floor that fills reliably, and a bar that serves cheap drinks fast. The programming leans toward crowd-pleasing hip-hop and EDM, designed to get a room full of university students moving rather than thinking. The name isn't subtle, and neither is the club.
What to Expect
A straightforward party club with cheap drinks and high energy. The crowd is overwhelmingly university-age. The booking system operates here but less formally than in Gangnam: waiters may suggest table introductions, but the dance floor mixing is more organic. Expect a sweaty, loud, youthful party.
Young, loud, and unpretentious. The energy is pure party without any of the social hierarchy or posturing of Gangnam clubs. Peak atmosphere between midnight and 3 AM.
Hip-hop, EDM, K-pop, top 40 remixes. Crowd-pleasers and sing-along tracks.
Very casual. University student attire: jeans, sneakers, t-shirts. Nobody dresses up.
Young travelers who want an affordable, high-energy party night in a university district.
Cash for cover. Cards accepted at bar. Table package deals usually cash.
Price Range
Cover 10,000-15,000 KRW with one drink. Drinks 5,000-8,000 KRW. Soju bottles 10,000 KRW at tables.
Cover ≈ $7-11 / €7-10. Drinks ≈ $4-6 / €3-5
Hours
Thursday-Saturday 9 PM to 5 AM. Busiest on Thursdays (obviously).
Insider Tip
Thursday is the signature night and draws the biggest crowd. Saturday is busy but less distinctive than Thursday. Free entry before 10 PM on some nights; check their socials. The soju-and-beer package deals at tables offer the best value if you're in a group.
Full Review
Thursday Party delivers exactly what the name promises. The venue built its brand around one night of the week and executes it consistently. On a Thursday at midnight, the club is packed with Korean university students and a smattering of international visitors who've heard the name or followed the crowd from the main Hongdae strip.
The formula is simple: accessible cover price, cheap drinks, mainstream music, and a room full of people who came to have fun. There's no artistic pretension, no underground credibility, and no VIP hierarchy. The DJ plays what gets people moving, the drinks are priced for student budgets, and the dance floor is where everyone ends up.
The booking culture exists here in a diluted form. Waiters may facilitate introductions between tables, but the formality and pressure of Gangnam's system is absent. Most mixing happens organically on the dance floor, where the forced proximity of a crowded room does the social work that waiters do elsewhere.
The physical space is functional. One room, one bar, one DJ booth, one dance floor. The sound is loud enough for dancing but not refined enough for critical listening. The lighting is standard club issue: strobes, colored spots, and a disco ball that gets deployed for peak moments.
The value proposition is clear. A full night at Thursday Party, including cover, four drinks, and late-night food afterward, costs less than the cover charge alone at Octagon. For budget-conscious visitors or anyone who just wants to dance without worrying about status or expense, it works.
Saturday nights are busier than Thursdays in terms of raw numbers, but Thursday remains the signature experience. The crowd on Thursdays has a communal energy, a shared understanding that everyone's breaking the week early together, that Saturday lacks.
