Coco Bar at Coco Bodu Hithi
Coco Bar is the main social hub of Coco Bodu Hithi resort in North Male Atoll, one of the closer luxury resorts to the capital. The bar is built over the lagoon with an open-air design, wooden decking, and direct water access. Guests can swim up to the bar from the lagoon or approach from the main island walkway. Seating wraps around a central oval bar counter with stools facing outward toward the water. Additional seating includes daybeds, low tables, and a few hanging chairs. Capacity is around 50 guests. Live music performances happen three to four nights per week, featuring a resident duo or trio playing acoustic covers and jazz standards. The cocktail menu is extensive by Maldives resort standards, with around 30 options including fresh juice blends.

Full Review
Coco Bodu Hithi is close enough to Male for a speedboat transfer (40 minutes), which makes it one of the more accessible luxury resorts. Coco Bar capitalizes on the resort's lagoon positioning with a design that puts water on three sides and sky above.
The bar is built on a wooden platform extending from the main island. The central counter is staffed by two bartenders during peak hours, who manage the cocktail menu with competence if not flair. The menu runs to about 30 options, from straightforward mojitos and margaritas to house creations using fresh local ingredients. The coconut cocktail, blended and served in a fresh coconut shell, is the most photographed item.
Live music is Coco Bar's differentiator. Three to four nights a week, a duo or small group sets up near the bar and plays acoustic sets. The repertoire covers soft pop covers, bossa nova, and jazz standards. The volume is calibrated for conversation rather than performance. It creates a soundtrack for the evening rather than demanding attention.
Daytime at Coco Bar is about the lagoon access. Guests swim up, order drinks at the water-level service point, and float back to their loungers. The bar serves light snacks and fresh juices alongside alcohol. By sunset, the dynamic shifts. The daybeds fill, the lights dim, and the evening crowd settles in.
The proximity to Male means day-trip access is technically possible, though in practice the resort caters to its own guests. The lagoon here is one of the clearest in North Male Atoll, and the house reef accessible from the bar area has decent snorkeling.
Coco Bar isn't trying to compete with Subsix or Whale Bar on exclusivity. It's a reliable, well-executed resort bar with the added value of live music and lagoon access. For guests at Coco Bodu Hithi, it's the natural evening destination.
The Neighborhood
Coco Bodu Hithi resort has several other dining options including Aqua (Italian), Stars (overwater fine dining), Tsuki (Japanese), and Air (international). The house reef around the island offers direct snorkeling access.
Getting There
