Vecriga (Old Riga), Riga

One One operates as Riga's answer to the underground electronic music clubs found in Berlin and Warsaw. Located in a basement space off Miesnieku iela, the club focuses on techno, house, and experimental electronic music. The room holds about 200 people, with a low ceiling that compresses the sound in a way that techno heads appreciate. The sound system was custom-built for the space and handles low frequencies without muddiness. The club books both local Latvian DJs and touring European acts, with occasional all-night sessions that run from midnight to morning. The crowd knows what they're here for: this isn't a place for casual bar-hopping or selfies on the dancefloor. Phones stay in pockets, the lighting is minimal, and the focus is on the music.

What to Expect

A dark, sweaty basement with industrial concrete walls and minimal decor. The DJ booth is almost at floor level, putting you close to the music. Red and blue accent lights cut through the haze. The crowd dances rather than stands around.

Atmosphere

Dark, focused, and intense. The kind of club where the music is the main event and everything else is secondary.

Music

Techno, deep house, minimal, and experimental electronic. No commercial EDM.

Dress Code

All black is the unofficial uniform. Comfortable shoes for dancing. Nobody cares about brands or labels here.

Best For

Serious electronic music fans who want a proper underground club experience. Not for groups looking to chat over drinks.

Payment

Cash preferred at the bar. Cards accepted but lines are faster with cash. EUR only.

Price Range

Entry 5-10 EUR, beer 3.50-5 EUR, cocktails 7-10 EUR

Entry ~$5-11, beer ~$4-5, cocktails ~$8-11

Hours

Fri-Sat 23:00-06:00, special events occasionally on other nights

Insider Tip

Check their social media for lineup announcements. The best nights are when touring DJs come through. Bring cash for the coat check. Arrive by midnight for guaranteed entry; capacity is small and they do turn people away.

Full Review

One One occupies the space that Riga's electronic music scene needed. The basement venue strips away everything unnecessary. No flashy bottle service, no VIP sections, no Instagram-friendly backdrops. What you get is a properly tuned sound system in a room built for dancing.

The low ceiling works in the club's favor. Bass frequencies feel physical here, wrapping around you rather than bouncing off distant walls. The DJ booth sits at the same level as the crowd, creating an intimacy that bigger clubs can't replicate. On a good night with a strong DJ, the room achieves that locked-in feeling where 200 people move as one.

Drink service is straightforward. The bar is small, prices are fair, and nobody is trying to upsell you on bottle packages. Water is cheap, which matters when you're dancing for four hours straight. The bathroom situation is basic but functional.

One One's weakness is inconsistency. When the booking is right and the crowd turns up, it's the best night out in Riga by a wide margin. But on quieter weekends with lesser-known DJs, the room can feel empty and the energy doesn't build. Check the lineup before committing. The club has developed a reliable following for specific nights and promoters, and those are the events to target.

The Neighborhood

One One is tucked into a side street off the edge of Old Town, close enough to walk from the main bar strip but removed enough to feel separate. The surrounding area has a few late-night food options and bars, but most of the post-club crowd disperses via Bolt. The venue is about a 5-minute walk from Coyote Fly and the Valnu iela bar strip.

Getting There

Off Miesnieku iela near the edge of Vecriga. A 10-minute walk from Livu laukums or a 3-minute Bolt ride from anywhere in the center. The entrance is easy to miss; look for a small door with minimal signage.
