Caprice Bar
Caprice Bar sits directly on the waterfront in Little Venice, with tables set above the sea on a terrace that catches the full force of Mykonos' famous sunset. The location is the product: from your table you look out across the water toward the iconic windmills while waves occasionally splash against the foundation below. Sunset cocktails with this view are why people come to Mykonos, and Caprice has been serving them since the bar opened. Cocktails run EUR 13 to 17, wine EUR 10 to 13, and beer EUR 8 to 10. The menu is straightforward, covering classic cocktails and a few house specials. Drink quality is decent but secondary to the setting. No cover charge, but getting a table requires arriving well before sunset during peak season. By 7 PM in July and August, every seat is taken and a crowd of standees gathers behind. The atmosphere after sunset shifts from contemplative to social, with the bar staying open and serving drinks as the evening progresses. The crowd is tourist-heavy, with couples and groups positioning for photos. Service can slow during the sunset rush but picks up afterward.
What to Expect
A waterfront terrace perched above the sea with direct sunset views and the windmills as a backdrop. Before sunset, the crowd is focused and anticipatory. During sunset, it's a sea of cameras and cocktail glasses raised against the light. After, the mood relaxes and the drinking becomes the focus. Waves splash below and the sea breeze is constant.
Iconic and view-driven before sunset, relaxed and social after. One of the most photographed bar terraces in Greece.
Lounge, chill-out, and soft Mediterranean pop. Music is secondary to the natural soundtrack of waves and wind.
Smart casual to resort wear. The crowd dresses for the occasion.
Sunset seekers, photographers, and couples who want the classic Mykonos waterfront experience.
Cards and cash accepted.
Price Range
Cocktails EUR 13-17, wine EUR 10-13, beer EUR 8-10
≈ $14-19 cocktails, $11-14 wine, $9-11 beer
Hours
Daily 5 PM to 2 AM in season (May-October).
Insider Tip
Arrive by 6 PM at the latest for a sunset table in peak season. 5:30 PM is safer. The left side of the terrace gets the most direct sunset view. After sunset, the crowd thins and the atmosphere becomes more relaxed and less photographically intense. Bring a camera with manual exposure settings; phones struggle with the backlight.
Full Review
Caprice Bar delivers the Mykonos postcard moment. The Little Venice waterfront location puts you directly above the Aegean with the windmills in frame, and when the sun drops toward the horizon on a clear evening, the entire scene turns golden. It's a genuinely beautiful natural spectacle, and the bar is positioned perfectly to showcase it.
The drinks are fine without being remarkable. Cocktails follow standard recipes and are mixed competently. You're paying for the real estate rather than the mixology, and the prices reflect that. A EUR 15 cocktail that comes with one of the Mediterranean's great sunsets is arguably a bargain. Just don't expect the drink itself to be memorable.
The pre-sunset scramble for tables is real and intense during peak season. Arriving early is non-negotiable if you want to sit. Standing positions are available but lack the magic of a table right at the water's edge. The crowd during the sunset window is heavily camera-focused, which can feel more like a photo shoot than a bar experience. This is the trade-off for one of Greece's most iconic views.
Caprice works best as a specific, time-limited experience. Arrive early, secure a table, have two drinks over the sunset period, then move on to dinner or other bars in Chora. Trying to spend the entire evening here means watching the atmosphere thin out and the magic of the location diminish once darkness falls and the view disappears.
The Neighborhood
Caprice is in Little Venice, the waterfront strip of Mykonos Town where old houses lean over the sea. It's one of several waterfront bars competing for the sunset crowd. The area is the photographic heart of Mykonos and connects to the rest of Chora's nightlife lanes.
Getting There
Walk through Chora toward the waterfront. Little Venice is on the western edge of town, past the main shopping lanes. Follow signs for the windmills and you'll find the waterfront bars. From the port, it's a 12-minute walk through town.
