Studio 672
Studio 672 is one of Cologne's larger and more established electronic music clubs, on Mauritiussteinweg in the Neustadt-Süd, a short walk from the Hohe Pforte area. The venue operates in a building with a history in Cologne's music scene and has two main rooms running different programming on weekend nights. The main room handles techno and harder electronic, while the second room tends toward house and more melodic selections. Bookings mix local and regional residents with occasional international names, and the club has a reputation for consistent sound quality, good organization, and a crowd that goes to dance rather than to be seen. Studio 672 doesn't operate a VIP model or bottle service. The door policy is selective on peak nights, focusing on crowd composition rather than specific dress requirements. Queues can extend on Saturday nights when the bookings are strong. The interior is dark and functional, with the floor plan oriented toward the dancefloor rather than seating. A small outdoor area provides some ventilation.

What to Expect
A club entrance with a queue management system and a door person. Inside, a dark main room with a concrete floor, industrial ceiling, and a speaker system that's been properly tuned. The second room is smaller and slightly less intense. A bar in each room serves quickly on lighter nights and slower on packed ones.
Dark, high-energy dancefloor. More focused on music than on socializing. Not a good venue for conversation.
Techno (main room) and house/melodic electronic (second room) on most weekends. Bookings vary; check the specific event for the confirmed lineup.
Black clothing is common but not mandatory. Sportswear, trainers, functional nightout clothing. No suits. The door cares more about whether you look like you're actually there for the music than what you're specifically wearing.
Electronic music fans, serious clubbers, visitors who want Cologne's club scene rather than its bar scene

Insider Tip
Check the Resident Advisor listing for Studio 672 before planning a visit. The quality of the night varies significantly with the booking. Arriving at opening time (23:00) avoids the queue that builds from around 01:00. The second room typically has shorter queues for drinks and less crowd density, making it a better option mid-night when the main room is packed.
Full Review
Studio 672 is positioned in the serious end of Cologne's electronic music scene, below the international reputation of a Berghain equivalent but well above the tourist-club or mainstream-DJ-night tier. The venue's main room has sound quality that justifies the reputation: the sub frequencies are handled with enough precision that the lower end of the music is audible without becoming a physical assault, and the mid and high frequencies are clear rather than sharp. This sounds technical but it matters for a long night of dancing. The booking policy skews local and regional with occasional international acts during peak season. Nights centered on local residents (DJs from Cologne's own scene) often outperform nights with names from elsewhere, because the crowd responds differently to familiar acts. The second room is a useful alternative when the main room is at capacity or when the programming there doesn't match what you're looking for. House music in the second room tends toward the Detroit and Chicago-influenced end rather than the commercialized European sound, which is a preference of the bookers rather than an accident. Studio 672's limitations are mostly logistical: it's not on the most convenient U-Bahn line for central Cologne visitors, the queue on peak nights can be slow, and the bar service gets stretched when the building is full. These are manageable with some planning.
