Na Rohu
Na Rohu is a corner pub in the traditional Czech model, meaning it's been there for decades, it serves beer from a tap behind a wooden bar, and it functions as the anchor social institution for the surrounding blocks. The name means simply 'on the corner,' which is the full extent of the branding. The clientele is local and regular: the same faces appear on the same evenings in the same seats, and a newcomer is noticed but not unwelcome if they conduct themselves like someone who wants to drink beer rather than observe. The beer is Starobrno, served in 0.3L and 0.5L glasses. The food is bar snacks: pickled cheese, toast, perhaps a microwaved sausage. There's no live entertainment and no music worth mentioning. The Fratrikova location puts it one block south of the main Cejl street, slightly quieter than the main strip but still in the heart of the district. It's not a destination in itself, but for anyone spending time in Cejl, it represents the neighborhood's most normal face.

Insider Tip
Order in Czech. 'Pivo, prosim' gets you a 0.5L draft. 'Male pivo' gets you the smaller glass. The barstaff don't speak English and won't pretend otherwise. Pay as you go; this is not a tab establishment.
Full Review
Na Rohu is the kind of pub that sociologists study and breweries love. It exists because the neighborhood needs a place to drink and has always needed one. The physical space is small enough that a group of six would fill it; the regulars have established territories at specific stools that they occupy without discussion.
The beer is Starobrno, which is the right call for this part of Brno. The Starobrno brewery operates nearby, and the tap lager tastes as it should: cold, clean, mildly hoppy, and designed to accompany a conversation rather than interrupt one. The 0.5L glass arrives promptly and the bar is refilled quickly when it's empty, as happens in a pub where the staff have watched people drink for long enough to know when to move.
The pub doesn't appear on any tourist lists and has no online reviews worth mentioning. It's a local pub in a local neighborhood, and it functions accordingly. For visitors spending time in Cejl for other reasons, Na Rohu offers the most affordable and most authentic drinking experience in the district. A two-hour evening here costs 100-120 CZK for three beers.
The one practical note: the Czech spoken here is not simplified for foreigners. If you want to order beyond basic beer and cheese, you'll need either some Czech or a phone translator. The staff will serve you regardless; communication is just on your side to manage.
