U Sadu
U Sadu runs across two floors in a quiet Žižkov square and it does Czech hospitality the right way. At least 10 beers on tap every day including their own unfiltered Sádek 11°, plus rotating craft and Belgian options. The kitchen stays open until the early morning, which in a city where most kitchens close at 10 pm is a genuine public service. Downstairs feels like a proper pub with foosball; upstairs is more restaurant.

Full Review
U Sadu runs across two floors in a quiet Zizkov square and gets Czech pub culture right without any of the tourist theater that plagues the city center. At least 10 beers on tap every day, including their own Sadek unfiltered wheat beer, which alone is reason enough to visit. The food is traditional Czech fare: ribs, goulash, dumplings, and portions sized for people who skipped lunch and plan to skip dinner.
The atmosphere changes through the day. Mornings are quiet, afternoons bring lunchers and remote workers, and evenings fill both floors with locals and neighborhood regulars. The cellar has foosball and a darker, more intimate feel for those who want it. The beer garden in the square outside is the summer highlight, offering one of the more peaceful outdoor drinking spots in a city that takes its outdoor drinking seriously.
Compared to the tourist pubs in Stare Mesto that charge double for half the quality, U Sadu is the correction. Beer runs 34 to 65 CZK per pint, Czech food mains cost 150 to 280 CZK, and nobody steers you toward the most expensive thing on the menu. It is what people imagine Czech pubs to be before they visit Prague and discover most visible ones have been optimized for tour groups.
Order the house Sadek wheat beer at least once during your visit. Come hungry, because the ribs deserve your full appetite. Late Thursday nights bring a mix of locals and early-weekend energy. Hours are generous: 8 AM to 2 AM most days, extending to 4 AM on Thursday through Saturday for the late crowd.
The Neighborhood
