La Herradura
La Herradura is one of the best-known clubs on Avenida Circunvalar, occupying a two-floor building with a main dance floor on the ground level and a mezzanine bar overlooking it. The club has been a fixture on the avenue for over a decade, cycling through ownership changes but retaining its position as the go-to destination for a loud night out in Pereira. The main floor holds around 300 people at capacity, and on Saturday nights it gets there comfortably. The DJ rotation is consistent: salsa and vallenato before midnight, reggaeton and urban Latin through the early hours. The sound system was upgraded in 2023 and the bass carries through the building. Security staff manage the queue at the entrance and pat down for weapons on busy nights. The bar is split across both levels, with the mezzanine offering a slightly quieter option for anyone who wants to watch the floor without being in the middle of it. The crowd is mostly Pereirano regulars mixed with visitors from Manizales and Cali on holiday weekends.

Insider Tip
Arrive before midnight to get a table on the mezzanine; once the main floor fills, the upper level is the better vantage point. Ordering a bottle at table service is more economical than buying rounds once your group is larger than three. Ask the bar staff which DJ is on before Friday night; the quality varies.
Full Review
La Herradura earns its reputation as the anchor club on Circunvalar through consistency rather than polish. The building is functional rather than designed: exposed concrete on the upper level, a proper dance floor with enough space to move on the ground floor, and lighting rigs that were clearly installed by someone who knew what they were doing. It's not a glamorous club, but it's a working one.
The crowd on a Saturday night is a genuine cross-section of Pereira's nightlife: young professionals from Pinares who came over for the dancing, visitors from the Coffee Triangle's smaller towns, and regular Circunvalar attendees who rotate through the same handful of venues. The music program is one of the more coherent on the avenue. The early sets lean toward salsa and vallenato, which fills the floor with people who know what they're doing. After midnight, the format shifts to reggaeton and the energy gets louder and more chaotic.
The mezzanine is the best feature. Arriving early enough to secure a table there gives you a view of the entire main floor, easier access to the bar, and a way to have a conversation without shouting. By 1 AM this advantage disappears as the mezzanine fills up too, but for the first two hours of the evening it's the right call.
One note on the bottle service: the process is straightforward, and the prices are transparent. The staff will quote you a package price for a bottle of aguardiente with mixers. It's worth it once your group is three or more people since individual drink prices add up quickly. Compared to similar venues in Medellin, La Herradura is significantly cheaper.
The Neighborhood
La Herradura sits on Avenida Circunvalar in the mid-section of the avenue, past the initial blocks that are more heavily adult-oriented and before the avenue transitions to the quieter residential stretch further along. The surrounding blocks have several other bars and food stalls, which makes arriving early and walking the strip first a reasonable approach.
Getting There
Take an Uber or InDrive to Avenida Circunvalar, Pereira. The club is visible from the avenue. Do not walk here from the city center at night. Uber from central Pereira costs 8,000-14,000 COP and takes 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.
Other Venues in Avenida Circunvalar

El Escenario
Mid-sized live music venue with weekly acts covering vallenato, cumbia, and rock en espanol. The stage is visible from most of the bar, and the sound system is better than the standard on the avenue.

Babylon Club
Larger club on Circunvalar with separate rooms for different music formats: one side runs electronic and DJ sets, the other plays salsa and urban Latin. Cover charges apply on weekends.

Bar Sabor Latino
Open-front bar with tables spilling toward the avenue. Attracts a mixed crowd of locals and regional visitors for cold beer and casual conversation before the clubs open up.

Palenque Bar
Afro-Colombian themed bar with a strong cocktail menu featuring aguardiente-based drinks alongside cumbia and champeta on the playlist. Good starting point early in the evening.

La Rumba de los Andes
Traditional-format live band venue with sets running from 10 PM. Musicians rotate through salsa, tango, and Andean folk genres. Older crowd, lower prices, and a more relaxed atmosphere than the clubs further along the avenue.

Vertigo Lounge
Rooftop-level lounge with views across the city. The cocktail menu is more considered than most of Circunvalar's options, and the volume is low enough for conversation. Best visited before midnight.
