Lavelle
Lavelle occupies the 16th-floor rooftop of a building at 627 King Street West, combining an outdoor pool with a bar, lounge, and event space that overlooks the Toronto skyline. The venue operates seasonally from May through October, with a capacity of approximately 350 across the pool deck, bar area, and covered lounge section. The pool is the centerpiece, surrounded by cabanas and daybeds that are available for rental. Daytime pool parties on summer weekends draw a crowd in swimwear; evening programming shifts to DJ-driven cocktail events with the city lights as the backdrop. The drink menu runs standard rooftop bar selections: classic cocktails, sparkling wine, and a beer list. The view is the main selling point, taking in the CN Tower, the financial district skyline, and Lake Ontario. Lavelle positions itself at the intersection of pool club and nightlife venue, a format more common in Miami or Las Vegas than Toronto. It works because Toronto has few rooftop options at this scale, giving Lavelle a near-monopoly on the skyline-and-pool combination during the short summer season.

Book cabanas well in advance for summer weekend pool parties; they sell out. Evening events after sunset offer better value if you're there for the view rather than the pool. Check their website for event-specific pricing, as cover charges vary widely.
Full Review
Lavelle exists because Toronto needed a rooftop pool bar and nobody else built one at this scale. The result is a venue that trades heavily on its uniqueness, and during the five months it operates, the formula works.
The daytime pool parties are the signature offering. Weekend afternoons from June through September fill the 16th-floor deck with a crowd in swimwear, drinking cocktails by a pool with the CN Tower in the background. The scene is unabashedly aspirational: cabanas with bottle service, DJ music, and the kind of curated atmosphere that generates social media content by the megabyte. If this sounds appealing, Lavelle delivers it well. If it doesn't, the venue isn't trying to convince you otherwise.
Evening events shift the tone. The pool becomes a visual feature rather than a functional one, and the crowd transitions from swimwear to cocktail attire. The city lights replace the sun as the backdrop, and the DJ adjusts accordingly, moving from tropical house to deeper, more atmospheric selections. Evening visits offer better value for people who are there for the view and the drinks rather than the pool itself.
The drinks are priced for the setting. CAD 20 to 26 for a cocktail is steep by any measure, but the rooftop premium is part of the transaction. The cocktails themselves are competently made but not exceptional; you're paying for the glass in your hand as much as what's in it. The beer and wine options are straightforward and similarly marked up.
Cabana rentals are the premium experience. Ranging from CAD 500 to 1,500 depending on size and position, they include a reserved space, direct service, and the best views. Groups of six to ten split the cost comfortably. These book out quickly for prime summer weekends, so advance planning is necessary.
Lavelle's fundamental limitation is its season. Five months of operation means it can't build the year-round following that indoor venues maintain. During those five months, especially on warm Saturday evenings when the sunset lights up the skyline, there's nothing else like it in Toronto.
