Junglebox Wine Bar

Sok San Road, Siem Reap

Junglebox Wine Bar is one of the few genuinely wine-focused venues in Siem Reap, occupying a mid-block position on Sok San Road with a split indoor-outdoor layout. The interior is air-conditioned and fitted with wooden shelving, a short bar counter, and enough seating to keep conversations contained. The outdoor section faces the road with low wooden furniture under a covered terrace. The wine list covers about 20 options by the glass and another 40 or so by the bottle, with a decent spread across Old and New World regions. Cocktails are competently made and priced above the Pub Street average. A small food menu covers tapas-style plates and cheese boards that pair sensibly with the wine selection. The crowd is older than you'll find on Pub Street, with a mix of expats, couples on boutique hotel holidays, and travelers who've been in Siem Reap long enough to be tired of draft beer promotions. It fills up around 7 PM on weeknights and can get tight by 9 PM on weekends during high season.

Full Review

Walking into Junglebox feels like stepping out of Siem Reap's tourist economy and into something that would be unremarkable in a mid-sized European city. That's the point, and it explains why expats and longer-stay travelers return to it regularly.

The indoor section is the main event. It's air-conditioned, low-lit, and arranged with enough space between tables that neighboring conversations don't bleed into yours. The bar counter seats four comfortably and is where you'll usually find the most knowledgeable staff. The wine wall is visible from most seats, which is a deliberate design choice.

The wine list is serious by Siem Reap standards, which still means it would read as modest in most European contexts. There are a few French and Italian options at mid-range price points, several New World bottles from Chile and Australia, and a rotating selection of something slightly more interesting that the staff can tell you about. By-the-glass pours are not generous but are consistently good.

Cocktails are properly made. The gin and tonic uses a decent tonic and a full measure. The negroni is stirred, not shaken. These are low bars, but many Siem Reap bars don't clear them.

Food is simple: cheese, charcuterie, some olives and bread. It's a drinking venue with food available, not a restaurant with a bar. The distinction matters for expectations. If you want a full dinner, eat elsewhere first.

The outdoor section is better earlier in the evening when the air is cooler. By 9 PM it's warm even with the overhead fans, and most people migrate inside. The road-facing terrace is pleasant for people-watching but not the reason to come here.

The Neighborhood

Junglebox sits on the main commercial stretch of Sok San Road, surrounded by newer hotels and guesthouses. Pub Street is a 10-minute walk east. The FCC Angkor is about 800 meters south. Several mid-range restaurants occupy the neighboring blocks.

Getting There

Tuk-tuk from Pub Street or the Old Market area takes about 5 minutes and costs $1-2. Grab is available. Walking from the Old Market area takes 10-12 minutes heading west on Street 5 then north onto Sok San Road.
