Rio Scenarium
Rio Scenarium started as an antique shop for film and TV sets in 1999 and became a full-blown samba house in 2001. Three floors of a restored 19th-century mansion on Rua do Lavradio are packed with vintage furniture, old phonographs, mannequins, and relics that give the place its signature look. The Guardian named it one of the world's top 10 bars, and on any given night you'll understand why. Two live bands perform nightly, running through samba, MPB, choro, and forró while a mixed crowd of cariocas and tourists fills the dance floors. Each level has a different atmosphere: ground floor is closest to the stage, second floor lets you look down on the action, and the top floor has a more relaxed bar vibe.
