Duplex 48
Duplex 48 occupies a two-story space on Rua Bocaiúva in central Florianópolis, with the cocktail program built around a rotating seasonal menu that uses Brazilian ingredients without overplaying the regional angle. The bartenders take their craft seriously, with most having moved through São Paulo or Buenos Aires kitchens before landing in Floripa, and the cocktail list rotates every three to four months. House signatures combine cachaça, cachaça reduction, and local fruit infusions with international techniques like fat washing and clarified milk preparations. The downstairs feels more bar-driven with stools and a long marble counter; upstairs adds intimate tables and a small lounge area. The crowd is mid-30s and up, professional, and pre-loaded with disposable income. Pricing reflects the ambition, sitting near the top of the Florianópolis cocktail market. The food menu is intentionally limited to charcuterie boards and small plates designed to extend rather than replace dinner.

Full Review
Duplex 48 occupies a corner storefront on Bocaiúva with the entrance leading into a downstairs space dominated by a long marble bar and a wall of bottle displays. The lighting stays low throughout, with track lighting picking out the bar surface and warmer accents at the seating areas. Stairs at the back lead to a smaller upstairs lounge with about six tables, more intimate lighting, and a separate service bar. The two floors operate as one space but the upstairs is quieter and more conversation-friendly while the downstairs counter is where the action happens.
The cocktail program is genuinely good. Bartenders rotate seasonally and trained in the craft cocktail boom of the 2010s rather than the Brazilian caipirinha tradition, which shows in the technique. Clarified milk punches, fat-washed spirits, and homemade tinctures appear on the seasonal menu alongside more traditional preparations. The cachaça program is deep, with smaller producer brands from Minas Gerais featured in flights and in custom drinks. International spirits are represented well, with proper Mezcal, Japanese whisky, and craft gin all available.
Compared to Frank's Bar or Floreria Atlantico in Buenos Aires, Duplex 48 is less themed and slightly more accessible. The pricing is significantly lower than equivalent Argentine or São Paulo venues, which makes it a strong value despite sitting at the top of the local market. The crowd skews older and more professional than the surrounding Bocaiúva bars; this is not a place for groups looking to drink heavily.
Service is polished and unhurried. Bartenders explain drinks willingly and adjust orders to taste without making it a thing. Reservations work through Instagram or by phone and matter on Friday and Saturday after 9 PM. Pix payments process immediately; card transactions are fast.
