Love Machine
Love Machine is a multi-level nightclub on Chapel Street in Prahran that draws a young, dressed-up Saturday night crowd. The venue has a main dance floor with a sizeable DJ booth and production rig, an R&B room on the upper level, and an outdoor terrace. The interior design leans toward dark, modern nightclub aesthetics with neon accents and LED panels. Saturday nights are the main event, when the venue fills with a 20-something crowd ready to dance to commercial hip-hop, R&B, and pop. Entry is AUD 20-30 on weekends. Beers are AUD 13-16, spirits AUD 16-20, and cocktails AUD 20-26. Bottle service starts at AUD 400.
What to Expect
A proper nightclub experience aimed at the late-teens-to-late-twenties demographic. Loud music, a packed dance floor, and a crowd that's dressed to impress. The production values are high: good sound, good lighting, and a DJ lineup that plays to the room. It's Melbourne's answer to a commercial mega-club.
High-energy, young, and image-conscious. The dance floor is packed from midnight onward. Bottle service sections add a VIP element. The outdoor terrace provides necessary relief from the main room's heat.
Hip-hop, R&B, and commercial dance on the main floor. R&B and soul in the upstairs room.
Enforced. Smart dress for men: collared shirt, dress shoes, no sneakers (though some clean designer sneakers pass). Women have more flexibility but the standard is dressed-up nightclub attire. The door team will turn you away if you don't meet the standard.
Young groups who want a big Saturday night out with dress-up energy, dancing, and a club atmosphere.
Cards and contactless accepted at all bars. Bottle service requires a card on file.

Insider Tip
Guest lists circulate on social media and can get you reduced or free entry before midnight. The R&B room upstairs is less crowded and has a different energy if the main floor is too packed. Dress well; the door policy is enforced.
Full Review
Love Machine positions itself at the opposite end of the Chapel Street nightlife spectrum from Revolver Upstairs. Where Revolver is about music and community, Love Machine is about energy and image. Neither is wrong; they serve different crowds.
The main dance floor is well-designed for a nightclub. The sound system delivers bass-heavy hip-hop and commercial dance music with clarity. The lighting rig runs programmed shows that sync with the music. The DJ booth is elevated, giving the performer both visibility and a view of the crowd's response.
The upstairs R&B room offers an alternative. The music is slower, the space is smaller, and the crowd up here tends to be couples and groups taking a break from the main floor's intensity. It's a good design decision that adds range to the venue.
The outdoor terrace is functional. It provides air, smoking space, and a chance to have a conversation at normal volume. It doesn't have views or special features, but it does its job.
Bottle service is pushed fairly hard. Tables with bottles and sparklers create a visible hierarchy on the main floor. If that's not your thing, the regular bar service is fine, though wait times peak between midnight and 2 AM.
The door policy is the most talked-about aspect. The security team enforces a dress code that filters out casual attire. Groups of men without women may face additional scrutiny. This creates a specific crowd dynamic that works for the venue's target audience but may frustrate others.
Bathrooms are modern and well-maintained. Security is present throughout the venue and handles the young, alcohol-fuelled crowd professionally.
