Trädgården
Trädgården (meaning 'The Garden') operates beneath the Skanstull bridge at Södermalm's southern edge, and it's the single venue that defines Stockholm's summer nightlife. Open from May through September, the space occupies a concrete-walled area under the elevated highway that's been transformed with climbing plants, wooden decks, multiple bars, food trucks, a main stage, a smaller DJ area, and enough room for 2,000+ people on a busy Saturday. The venue opened in 2007 and quickly became Stockholm's most talked-about nightlife destination. The industrial setting, with concrete pillars, exposed rebar, and greenery growing over everything, creates an atmosphere somewhere between a Berlin club and a Scandinavian summer party. Programming covers electronic music, hip-hop, pop, and live acts, with both international headliners and local DJs filling the schedule. Day parties start in the late afternoon; night events run until the early hours. Trädgården only exists for five months of the year, and that scarcity is part of what makes it special.
What to Expect
You approach through a slightly industrial area near the Skanstull bridge. The entrance opens into a space that doesn't look like much until you step past the walls and see the full layout: concrete terraces stepping down toward the main stage, bars built into the bridge supports, food vendors in converted containers, and greenery softening the hard edges. On a summer Saturday at 11 PM, the crowd fills every level, the bass reverberates off the concrete overhead, and the whole setup feels like a temporary city that only exists for the season.
A concrete garden party with serious sound. The open-air setting, industrial architecture, and climbing plants create something you won't find anywhere else in Scandinavia. Relaxed and communal during day parties; intense and dance-focused at night events.
Electronic music (house, techno, disco) dominates the programming, but hip-hop, pop, and live band nights appear regularly. Day parties tend toward lighter, disco-influenced sounds. Night events go deeper and darker.
Casual to very casual. Sneakers, shorts, t-shirts, summer dresses. This is the opposite of Stureplan. Overdressing here signals that you don't know where you are.
Anyone visiting Stockholm between May and September. Electronic music fans who want an outdoor club experience. Groups of friends looking for Stockholm's most distinctive nightlife setting. This is a must-visit if the timing works.
Cards and contactless only. No cash accepted anywhere in the venue. Swish works at most bars.

Full Review
Trädgården is the reason people time their Stockholm visits for summer. The venue has achieved that rare thing: a nightlife space that's both world-famous and genuinely good. It hasn't been ruined by its own reputation, partly because the five-month season prevents it from becoming routine.
The physical space is the first thing that hits you. A section of urban wasteland beneath a highway bridge has been turned into something that feels part botanical garden, part industrial club, part festival ground. Concrete pillars support the bridge overhead. Vines and plants climb the walls. Wooden platforms at different heights create distinct zones: a main dance area near the big stage, a smaller DJ area for intimate sets, raised terraces for sitting and watching, food vendor corners for refueling. The sound system is festival-grade and handles the open-air acoustics well, though the concrete creates some bounce in certain spots.
Day parties are a different experience from night events. Afternoon sessions start when the sun is still high, the crowd is mixed in age and style, and the music leans toward disco and feel-good house. Families with older kids share the space with groups of friends and couples. It feels like a block party that happens to have world-class DJs. As the sun drops, the vibe shifts. The lighting takes over, the music deepens, and the crowd's energy concentrates on the dance floor.
Night events start later and draw a more dedicated nightlife crowd. The lineup matters more here. A strong headliner fills the venue to capacity, and the queue can stretch for an hour or more. Buying advance tickets is not optional for popular events; they sell out.
Food vendors serve solid options: burgers, tacos, falafel, Asian noodles. Quality is above average for a nightlife venue. Eating here is genuinely enjoyable, not just functional. The bars serve standard selections at prices that are reasonable by Stockholm standards, though the lines can be long during peak hours.
The Neighborhood
Trädgården sits at Södermalm's southern edge, near the Skanstull bridge. The surrounding area is mixed residential and commercial, not a traditional nightlife strip. When Trädgården closes for winter, Under Bron takes over the indoor sections of the same space. The nearest bars are a 10-minute walk north toward Medborgarplatsen.
Getting There
Skanstull Tunnelbana station (green line) is a 3-minute walk. Exit the station and follow signs toward Hammarby Slussväg. The venue entrance is visible from the bridge. From Medborgarplatsen, it's a 15-minute walk south along Götgatan. Taxis can drop off on Hammarby Slussväg.
