Vox Nightclub
Vox Nightclub operates out of a converted space in the Carmelitas area, about three blocks south of the main Paseo Carmelitas strip. The venue focuses on electronic music, pulling DJs from Asuncion's underground scene and occasionally booking acts from Buenos Aires or Sao Paulo. The interior is deliberately stripped back: concrete walls, minimal decoration, and a lighting rig that relies on strobes and lasers rather than colorful LEDs. The main room holds roughly 200-250 people, with a DJ booth centered on the back wall and a bar running along one side. There's a small outdoor patio area for smoking and cooling off. The sound system punches above what the space would suggest, with clean mids and a subwoofer setup that carries across the room without becoming muddy. Vox draws a younger crowd, mostly university students and creative types who prefer techno and house over the reggaeton that dominates at Coyote.
What to Expect
You walk through an unassuming entrance into a dark room where the bass hits you before your eyes adjust. The crowd is already moving if it's past 1 AM. The lighting is moody: blue and purple washes punctuated by sharp white strobes during drops. The temperature runs hot when the room fills, so dress accordingly. The outdoor patio provides relief and is where most socializing happens.
Dark, focused, and music-driven. More Berlin basement than Miami mega-club. The crowd came for the DJ, not the bottle service.
Techno, minimal techno, tech-house, and progressive house. Occasional themed nights featuring drum and bass or experimental electronic.
Dark, casual, club-friendly. Black t-shirts and sneakers are the norm. Nobody is judging fashion here; the focus is on the music.
Electronic music fans looking for something beyond mainstream clubs. Best on nights with guest DJs from Argentina or Brazil.
Cash only. Bring guaranies in smaller denominations.

Insider Tip
Check their Instagram for lineup announcements. When a Buenos Aires or Sao Paulo DJ is booked, the crowd doubles and the cover goes up. The patio is the best spot for conversation between sets.
Full Review
Vox fills a gap in Asuncion's nightlife that the bigger clubs don't cover. If Coyote is the mainstream option, Vox is the alternative. The venue is smaller, darker, and more focused on the music than the scene. The door policy is relaxed but the crowd self-selects: people come here because they know the DJ or the genre, not because it's the place to be seen.
The main room is compact. At full capacity it's tight, but that creates an energy that bigger rooms can't match. The DJ booth is at eye level, which gives the room an intimate feel. The sound system is genuinely good for a venue this size, with bass that you feel in your body without the distortion that plagues some Asuncion clubs. On a good night with a visiting DJ, the room locks into a groove that runs until 4 or 5 AM without a dip in energy.
Drinks are straightforward. Beer and basic cocktails. Don't expect artisanal mixology. The bar gets busy after 1:30 AM, so order doubles or grab two beers at once. The outdoor patio is small but welcome when the room heats up. This is where conversations happen and where you'll meet people between sets.
For context, Vox is Asuncion's version of the smaller electronic clubs you'd find in Palermo Hollywood or Vila Madalena. It's not competing with Berghain, but for a city this size, it's a genuine option for electronic music. The crowd is friendly once you're on the dance floor, and the lack of pretension is refreshing. Price-wise, it's hard to spend more than 100,000 PYG in a night unless you're buying rounds for strangers.
The Neighborhood
Vox is located a few blocks off the main Paseo Carmelitas strip in the Carmelitas area. The walk from the Paseo is short but best done by Bolt at night. After the club, late-night food options on Avenida Espana are a 5-minute ride away.
Getting There
A Bolt from the Paseo Carmelitas strip takes about 3 minutes. From central Asuncion, expect a 15-minute ride costing 20,000-30,000 PYG. The entrance is easy to miss at street level; look for the small sign and the security guard.
