Coyote Bar

Villa Morra - Carmelitas, Asuncion

Coyote Bar is one of Asuncion's marquee nightclubs, occupying a prominent spot on Avenida Espana in the Villa Morra district. The venue spreads across multiple levels, with the ground floor hosting a main dance area and bar, and the upper level offering a more relaxed lounge space with views over the street below. The capacity is around 400-500 people, and on a Saturday night it fills close to that. The sound system is the best in the neighborhood, capable of rattling your ribcage when the DJ drops reggaeton or electronic beats. The decor leans into a dark, industrial style with colored LED lighting that shifts through the night. A VIP section with bottle service occupies the back corner of the upper level, with tables running 350,000-500,000 PYG depending on the night. The crowd is young professionals in their 20s and 30s, well-dressed and predominantly Paraguayan. Foreigners are uncommon enough to be noticed.

What to Expect

Walking in, you pass through a short corridor and hit a wall of bass from the main floor speakers. The ground level is dark with LED strips running along the bar and ceiling. Bodies are already moving if it's past midnight. The upper level is cooler and calmer, with seating and a better view of the scene below. The energy builds steadily through the night, peaking around 2 AM when the place is at capacity.

Atmosphere

High-energy, dark, and sweaty once it fills up. The kind of place where you feel the music in your chest and conversations happen by shouting into each other's ears.

Music

Reggaeton, Latin trap, electronic, and commercial pop. DJs mix between genres throughout the night, with heavier electronic sets after 2 AM.

Dress Code

Smart casual minimum. Men wear jeans or chinos with a collared shirt or fitted tee. Women dress up. Sneakers are acceptable but shorts and sandals won't fly on weekends.

Groups looking for Asuncion's biggest club night. Best on Saturday when the crowd and energy peak.

Cash (guaranies preferred). Some card terminals at the main bar, but cash is faster and more reliable.

Full Review

Coyote has been one of Asuncion's go-to clubs for years, and the place earns its reputation on Saturday nights. The entrance on Avenida Espana has a small queue that forms after midnight; getting there by 11:30 PM means walking right in. The cover is 30,000-50,000 PYG depending on the event, and it sometimes includes a drink ticket.

The ground floor is a single large room with the DJ booth elevated at one end and a long bar along the side wall. When it fills, movement gets tight, which is standard for any popular Latin American club. The sound system handles the low end of reggaeton and trap well, and the DJ reads the room effectively. Between the big drops, the crowd sings along to the lyrics. It's participatory in a way that electronic-only clubs aren't.

Upstairs offers breathing room. The lounge area has couches, higher tables, and its own bar. VIP tables line the railing overlooking the main floor. A bottle of Johnny Walker Black runs about 400,000 PYG with mixers, which splits well among a group. The staff up here are more attentive than at the packed downstairs bar.

Compared to nightlife in Buenos Aires or Sao Paulo, Coyote is smaller and less polished, but the energy per square meter is comparable. The crowd is genuine, the music is tailored to Paraguayan tastes, and the prices make it easy to enjoy a long night. Service can be slow at the main bar during peak hours. If you don't want to wait, the upper level or bottle service are your best options.

The Neighborhood

Coyote sits on the main strip of Avenida Espana in Villa Morra, within walking distance of Long's Bar, Paseo Carmelitas restaurants, and several other bars. The surrounding blocks are the safest and most active nightlife zone in Asuncion. Late-night food options including lomiterias and pizza spots operate on side streets nearby.

Getting There

A Bolt from central Asuncion takes 10-15 minutes and costs 20,000-30,000 PYG. From Shopping del Sol, it's a 5-minute ride or a 15-minute walk along Avenida Espana. Most people arrive by Bolt or taxi, as parking near the venue is limited on weekends.
